Very nice restoration of a civil war era fort, plenty of room for the kids to release any pent up energy. On Wednesdays at 4PM they present a little ceremony of firing one of their cannon, fairly impressive when you realize that they are using...More

The old fort is very well maintained and free to tour. Modern visitors center with videos and interactive displays, great for kids. Great views of the water, beach.

We enjoyed our afternoon at the fort, even though was a very hot day! Learned from the knowledgeable history guide, and like the array of self-guided areas to explore. It makes you appreciate what these men endured during hard wartimes!

There is so much information and interesting facts during the tour. My son is 7 years old and loved every minute! The exhibits were really fun and my son was enthralled!

I'm not sure. They are doing a beach erosion project with piping sand from the Fort Macon beach a mile or do down towards Atlantic Beach using large pipes. This is just a guess. Best thing to do is call the park
