Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I did the single day carpet making and it was one of the most fun things I did while in Bodrum. They picked me up directly from my hotel and took me to a small village just outside of Bodrum city. While I was there I learned the hand knot rug techniques, they fed me delicious turkish food, tea, dessert and coffee. It was a true experience of the authentic turkish culture and not over commercialized like many other tours I have taken. I even left with my rug I made that day! Highly highly recommend!!!

We booked a day cooking class and was a little disappointed with the money we paid with what we had in the end. It felt overly priced.

I had a great experience learning how to weave a Kilim rug in a beautiful house in a cool village outside of Bodrum. The host Bulent is a unique person who is jolly and generous. He makes delicious meals and has a lot to offer. He really makes you feel at home and the woman who I worked with was friendly and kind and smart and taught me well. I recommend this retreat for anyone who is looking to get to work and have quality alone time in Turkey. The spirit of Turkey is beautiful and can be found here if you are open to it. şerefe!

We are Japanese couple. We stayed in Gokpinar Retreat Center in March 2012.
It was rather cold and just before tourist season, so a few people there and we could enjoyed real local atmosphere.
We learned cooking and belly dancing from a teacher for a week and went local market.

I loved every moment of being at Gokpinar Retreat Center in 2010. Bulent was so warm and welcoming. He organized everything and took such good care of me. The village was small and provided a lovely invitation into more remote life in Turkey. Would highly recommend this place for anyone interested in dance, music, and an intimate experience of Turkey.

My sister and I stayed at the Gokpinar Retreat in 2012. She spent the week weaving a small carpet with a skilled carpet weaver as her teacher. I spent the week with the mother of the host as my mentor, chef teacher in the kitchen making an amazing variety of wonderful authentic Turkish dishes. The retreat is set on a mountain top in a small village, the farmhouse is rustic, but charming; hardly deluxe accommodations, but very comfortable, clean and peaceful. We even had the opportunity to attend an engagement party in the village. It was a wonderful week and a unique look at life in a small Turkish village. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants an real adventure.

The accommodations were mediocre, especially considering the cost. I am not sure what qualifies it as a "Retreat Center". Turkey has beautiful hotels and real Retreat Centers, not to mention lovely beaches and exquisite cities. I would not advise anyone to pay to stay at Gokpinar. Of all my many trips to Turkey, my experience at Gokpinar was, by far, the worst.

We've stayed at Gokpinar Retreat Center a few times for cooking classes, carpet weaving, and bellydancing. It's the kind of place that keeps us coming back for more of the traditional way of life in Turkiye. Bulent and family are kind and generous...always very inviting. We also were invited to a village wedding celebration. This was one of my favorite experiences as the local women hugged me and invited me to join them dancing. Whether you have only a day excursion, or a whole week to "feel" authentic Turkey, Gokpinar is the place.

I stayed 4 days. We cooked in the chimney outside! Peace and stars at night after superb meals. We tried to belly dance as well and listened to Turkish music played by one of the hosts. Dorthea, the rock of the retreat, has such wisdom and power from all her expériences. Her recipes are classic and very healthy-fermented stuff from the garden on the premises, lots of vegees and very fresh! You can shop in a nearby village market for some awesome spices! I'd go back for the next level up!
