This 12-mile long beach is also a National Park. Its proximity to the ruins keeps hotels from developing in the area, making it great for uncrowded swimming as well as bird watching.

Wonderful beach, with almost white sand, which is a feat in Turkey. One of the best beaches we've been to in Turkey, the only if is that you need to pay to enter it, yet maybe that is what keeps it preserved, as well as the turtle's breeding grounds.

We walked over two kilometres from the village on the empty road dotted with Lycian ruins. As it is a protected area there are no restaurants on the route and the one at beach is closed in winter. We were lucky to find a solitary street vendor selling corns and pomegranate juice. The beach is of fine sand of greyish... More

After pootling around the Patara ruins for a couple of hours we headed down to the beach. We came by car and paid 15 TL each for the ruins and the beach, kids were free. The beach cafe is charming and good value. We had a couple of salads and gözleme. All very good. The beach is fantastic. Clean, good... More

Took the bus from Kalkan (uphill walk - stopped for apple tea on the way) bus ride through the other side of turkey different world to the affluent costal region. The beach itself was stunningly beautiful, within walking distance of the accent city (well worth a visit). Beach bar and facilities first class - very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend... More

This is not 4 star pub or Resteraunt but on a hot sunny day it is the place to be on Patara beach. Good simple food with the best Efes cold beer all at a really good price. Can't wait to get back

We had a couple of hours here while out on a day trip. Being the longest beach in Turkey there is so much room, especially if you wander away from the main areas where the restaurants are. It's nice to have a beach of pure sand in this area of Turkey, and the water is great for a swim, and... More

Patara Beach is located in front of the old Lycian city of Patara and is a short drive off the main road. You have to pay a small fee to access the beach. Unlike other beaches in the area this one is sandy and not pebbles. It was great to feel the sand between your toes. There is a small... More

Stunning 12km long beach, all soft sand and only a small part of it used for tourism. The rest is fir the caretta caretta, the giant sea turtles that lay their eggs here. There is a small but fantastic beach restaurant, showers, toilets and change cabins. Entry to the protected area cost 7,5 Turkish lira. Fantastic waves most of the... More

One lovely beach restaurant and 17km of sand makes for a fantastic and relaxed day out. And what's that you say - there's a world class archaeological site 10 minutes walk away? Sign me up! And that's why this beach has remained unspoilt, because there are restrictions limiting development here. Note however it's quite exposed and can be windy, so... More
