This statue has been constructed as Victory Monument at the center of Ankara, Ulus Square in 1927 with a nationwide fund. It contains founder of Modern Turkey, Ataturk and 3 figures. Two soldiers and one woman carrying a canonball during the war.

Very nice statue and interesting to see Turkey's history, but wow are there ever a lot of pigeons here! Makes for cool photos with them all flying around if you can risk flying under them!

After I read about Atatürk and how he transformed Turkey I realized that this statue makes a very powerful statement. Although the current government is taking steps backwards we are constantly reminded about what Turkey should become (More Westernized and Secular). Seeing the Atatürk statues...More

Where do you find a beautiful Statue of Ataturk on his horse but in the "old town of Ankara." Ataturk was the "father of modern Turkey." Sometimes he is referred to as the "George Washington" of Turkey.

it is just a modern sculpture at the start of a main street, i didn't pay attention so much both it should be about a historical memorandum
