After knowing the Castle of Ankara from all directions because I had lived there for some time and visit the city each year, I decided to climb up there. It is a real challenge to drive uphill and find a spot to park the car....More
Although the Castle itself is just the remaining exterior walls the view is fabulous from the top. Surrounding the castle grounds are historic houses, shops and a Museum. Great place to visit and no fees to enter.
The history lovers should try it and it’s a little bit hard to walk because of the slope and narrow streets but you can see the inner and invisible core of the city and Simit cellers and you should walk through historical fabric and it...More
The castle is not so much a real castle but is a great place to get the most amazing views of the city. The walls are an interesting mix of a number of different civilisations- all reused. The shops and other local colour in the...More

You can go there anytime, no visiting hours but I would recommened to go there before it gets drak that you can see the view of all Ankara. No fee entrance. Sunset time is the best time. If you you earlier you can visit few museums very closed to Ankara Castle and I would recommend you to buy "müze card" instead of buying museum ticket, you can use that special card for one year and you don't pay for most of the museums in Turkey. (Most of the moseums closing around 5 pm. You can visit Anatolian_Civilizations_Museum (_Anadolu_Medeniyetleri_Muzesi-) first than walk to the castle. Have a nice holiday.
