For a foreigner, the ticket price is not cheap, > 6 USD. The collection was very limited, and only a few pieces are really from ancient times (i.e. before 16th century). Even the first power generator, first computer, etc. made their ways into the collection....More

Was very disappointed with the visit. I used to love going to the old museum, which felt very authentic. Now there is something missing. The lighting was very dim. the exhibits very not very well maintained. The staff were not very helpful, unfortunately. Hope it...More

The size of the museum is really small. I expect to see more about Maldives history in past time especially during Buddhist’s reign and before Islam took over but cant find anything.

We were here about 8 years ago and unimpressed. Now they've completely remodeled in a very fine building. Even has an elevator if you ask. New are the police museum and the postage stamp exhibit. The rest of the museum has artifacts from ancient to...More

Centrally located, the museum is housed in a big building but has room for more exhibits. Foreigners pay more for the entrance fee. Use of cameras are allowed (without flash) with a fee. Exhibits include stamps, banknotes, royal regalia, old texts and Korans, the police...More

Working hours are actually Sat- Thu 10.30 till 15.30, closed on Fri, so could not visit the museum. From the outside it looks grand, located near Sultan park so easy to find.

find something of value in even the smallest/dullest of museums, and have a day to spend in Male, come here for an hour or so, there is still space for improvement. So I say you should visit this place.

It is a small museum, and one can see the efforts of gathering all they could find but still not have enough to fill it in. I know Maldives have a short history, and all revolved around the year 1511 when Islam was introduced, but...More
