It holds quite a historic value but you may want to visit at night. It's simply beautiful. Afamous church made all if wood. Close walking distance from the cruise pier and boardwalk .

The Oura Catholic Church has great significance being where the secret Japanese Christians were found in the 19th century. It was under renovation when we went there in early June so we couldn't get in. A bit of a disappointment. Still, even from a distance...More

We were blessed to celebrate Mass at the beautiful Oura Church on the 4th if July. This is the oldest church in Japan and recently recognized as a World Cultural Site. Such a wonderful experience.

It's a beautiful building on the outside but quite plain inside. It was interesting to discover about Christianity in Japan in the adjoining museum.

The oldest Christian church in the area. It beautifully sits at the base of the hill and is very well maintained. It's architectural beauty and history are well worth the visit.

Built in 1864, this church is believed to be the oldest standing Christian church in Japan. It is dedicated to the memory of 26 Christians who were executed in Nagasaki in 1597. There is an entrance fee, not just a requested donation. We did not...More

As a practising Catholic, when ever visiting an area, I always make a point of searching for the local church. Never, at anytime or anywhere, have I been charged to enter. Till I happened upon here. Don't waste your money. Even though it no longer...More
