It is really a good historical place but you are not allowed to walk near to the building and the island is not that big.

About 30 mins boat ride from Nagasaki port, we arrived Hashima Island, also known as Gunkanjima (Battleship Island). This island has just been approved as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's an island that used to have over 5000 residents living here mining for coal....More

Only wish we could have had a private tour so didn't have to view from behind fences. I totally understand the safety concerns of the crumbling buildings and further damage done by visitors. Still managed to get some good photos and glad we went. Interesting...More

Rewarding day at this modern post apocalyptic site. Totally abandoned island which has been left to the elements since 1974. Amazing experiences here.

The trip is very organised , perhaps too organised. You are allowed to walk on one side of the island, on a wooden path and not distance yourself not even 2 m from group. So all the rest you have to leave for your imagination....

Also known as Gunkanjima or (‘battleship island’ – so named because of its ship-like silhouette), was seen in the 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall. It was originally a huge Coal mine with over 5000 people working on the 1000 metre by 500 metre piece of...More

Could have been nice if we had been able to dock. The sea was very rough and the captain made the right choice. I had unfortunately bought the ticket online the day before. Wouldn't have bothered in this weather even try otherwise. Book only if...More

The museum is not in the island. There're 2 museums, one in Nomo Cape and the other near old HSBC building.
