Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After ascending Japan's tallest building, Abeno Harukas, you can shop for delicacies on the lower floors for a lovely picnic.

Tennoji Park is a 5-10 minute walk away, where locals gather to relax, eat, chat, and even take a brief nap. It's a lovely sanctuary in a busy city.

My family had decided to steer clear of the shopping area, especially since it’s the weekend. It was one of the best choices made. Though there was a crowd in the park, everything was still rather serene. Families soaking in the sun while having picnics; young boys having their futsal game. It was just a joy to be there with the locals.

Came in spring and walked around this park after visiting the zoo. Fairly large area with a museum here. As we stayed in Tennoji area, we also visited at night and there were some activities and small stalls open. Near Tennoji station. We were looking for cherry blossoms but didn't see many in this area. Maybe we were too early.

I'm surprised to see the recent negative reviews. The free park went through a major upgrading about a year or so ago, and while not what you might expect of a park back home for down town Osaka it is quite pleasant. A few places to get a coffee or a bite to eat. Some lovely green grass. The zoo still sucks. There is also a nice area that you pay to enter. Relaxing and feels like you have escaped the city.

I wouldn't recommend coming to Tennoji especially for this but if you are in the area, or at Shin-sekai it is an easy stroll. And while there are some shall I say, less classy, people hanging around it is in fact a perfectly safe area and fine to walk through at night. These people do not deserve the bad things written here. Some are unemployed, some are homeless, some are just poorer people who live in the area who happen to socialize here because it is cheap. They are not thugs or anything but mostly older people and will not hinder your enjoyment.

The park and zoo was really run down. We paid an entry fee but realized at the end of the visit that you could enter for free thru the various entrances around the park. The museum of art required an additional fee too. I wouldn't recommend to visit this place.

I enjoyed as a park but if I'll have a chance to go there again, I would take and insect repellent with me as the mosquitoes are very persisted in the area

Run down grotty place next to the awful Tennoji Zoo. A lot of very poor looking homeless people sleeping around the park many of them congregating at the North end near the station. You have to walk through them to get to the zoo from the station. One poor soul had no trousers on.
Strange to see such a sight in a wealthy country.

As we were changing rail lines at Tennoji station, and like parks, we decided to check out Tennoji Park. There's a JPY150 (JPY80 for children) admission charge. In contrast, the rather larger Osaka Castle Park (from where we had just come) is gratis to enjoy (though the castle itself is not gratis).

Tennoji Park is of a good size, has varied structures and landscaping, and contains some other facilities like the zoo and the Municipal Museum of Art (added admission fees for those places).

On the mid-September 2013 day of our visit promoters were setting up an Oktoberfest beer festival. I suppose it could be interesting, but prices were in the range of JPY1300+ for glasses of (mostly) German lagers. For context, later that evening we went to one of the local Minoh micro brewery outlets (most are called "Beer Belly"), and enjoyed micro brews for around JPY850 per pint.

The park looks like it would be rather more enjoyable as a park, if it were free of such a promotion. (And, almost certainly, there should be a more appropriate place for such an event than here..)

This was a lovely find in busy Tennoji. Families picnicking on the lawns, dogs enjoying the gated pet run, futsal matches in the open air. If you want to buy pet paraphernalia, this is the place! At night, we walked over the stairs past the art gallery into the gardens. It was well lit and quiet. We saw several cats, which is presumably why directional signage features little cat people.
We didn’t visit the zoo, as we’re not fans of urban animal parks, but it seemed popular.

I did this on my last day in Japan and am glad I did. It is lovely and peaceful – as long as the speakers on the playing fields are off. They play some weird, motivational music in random intervals. The entrance is via the same gate as the Museum of fine art. I didn’t realise that till I had walked halfway around the outside of the park and bumped into a lovely little garden of a restaurant on the “back wall”. The ticket entitles you to re-entry for the whole day. The garden has a couple of ponds with very lively fish and tortoises. There is an observation shelter and the long legged birds going about their business in and around the big pond make a good job of pretending that they can’t see you. There is a little stream coming down a hill, trees on islands, little bridges and stepping stones, it really is beautiful. There were also a few people painting and sketching. I would have happily bought a watercolour picture that was in the making that afternoon. Overall there very not a lot of visitors, it was very quiet despite it being a Sunday and the garden being in the back of the museum and close to the zoo where a lot of people seemed to go.
With Osaka being busy and noisy this garden is the perfect antidote to tourist stresses.
