What an amazing architecture. It is a fair bit of walk from station, but its totally worth the walk. We didnt go up or in to the castle though and when we met the local, they mentioned that it's not worth it to go inside. We just sat around outside, and had few snacks.

Meh, it was a tourist trap. The castle turned out to be a reproduction. The original was burned down a long time ago. There are tons of people in there and the artifacts were not terribly interesting unless you're into Japanese history. If you want a high view of Osaka, do go in. If not, a few pictures from the... We enjoyed our visit to Osaka Castle. It's a reconstruction of the old castle, and contains a museum on several floors describing the life of Toyotomi Hideyoshi in an engrossing way, with several animated dioramas, and showing artifacts from his life, including a letter he wrote to his young son and some of his war coats, armor, and swords. He... More

Osaka Castle was originally built by Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537-1598), one of the three great warlords and unifiers of medieval Japan. Today, it houses an informative museum about the castle's history and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. On display at its 1st to 7th floors are various weapons, armors and folklife items of those days. When we reached the observation deck on the 8th... More

Seems like this is an obligatory tourist place. Enjoyed the scenery (trees almost in full bloom) more than the castle. In fact I wouldn't make this part of itinerary next time. Lots of food trucks. Overall, I wasn't impressed with this attraction.

From the outside, the castle looks original (and most of it probably is), but inside is another story - it's all modern reconstruction with a great museum dedicated to Osaka's history. The displays are well organised and provide enough English commentary that you don't feel like you're missing out on anything. The view from the top is well worth it,... More

It is cultural historical place nice but if you have kids maybe they and you feel tired. It has 7 floors and in the roof the view are amazing. Visiting the castle in cherry blossoms season is a plus and recommended as will be more and more beautiful.

This Osaka castle is big castle with good view & the most important part is free, except if you decide to come inside, you need to pay 600 yen. Range food in here is 500-1000 yen & many souvenir also. Overall is interesting place(come to early/mid of aprl is a good time)

The collection of artifact was impressive and the details and explanation for each piece of item is commendable. The view from the top of the castle is also worth the climb up the stairs. It was crowded with tourist when we were there but it was worth the hassle
