- Ashley H517 contributionsOutdoor Observation! So glad we did this! I liked it way more than the Tokyo Skytree. It's more open and welcoming, places to sit and good options at the cafe. The sky escalators are amazing and the view outside is so cool! Great architecture too. Highly recommend!Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 December 2022
- Wennie WSingapore, Singapore839 contributionsOpen top 360-views!Beautiful views on a clear day. The open/ outdoor top floor offered great views with full feel of the weather elements without glass hindrance. This made the experience very enjoyable. One could stay here for hours and enjoy the day and sunset views. The floor below has a cafe and counter sears which offers nearly 180 deg window views. Great spot for young couples or a lovely evening out. Wish we had gone sooner as would have love to sit there for a day with coffee and tea and idle some time with a good book and great sky views.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 January 2023
- elznyNew York City, New York104 contributionsIt was OK, nothing spectacular...This was included in our Osaka amazing pass - we went at sunset right before 6pm. The view was OK, you definitely see the entire Umeda vicinity but you'll see better sunset in Hawaii, and better landmarks from the Shard in London. So it was just OK. I do appreciate the architecture, design, however., and I particularly loved looking up from the ground at the building more than looking at the city from the open deck on the top. The escalators are cool.Visited March 2023Written 31 March 2023
- Love to TravelPotters Bar, United Kingdom779 contributions39th floor for freeVisited around lunchtime and hoped to get a drink in the sky lounge. Unfortunately, this doesn't open until 17:00, entrance to the 39th floor is free, you only have to pay to enter the observation deck on the 40th. Decided the price for one extra floor wasn't worth it. Nice little basement with many little cafes, done in a rather twee olde worldy style, but worth a look if you want a drink or snack and the lounge at the top isn't openVisited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 17 April 2023
- Norma FBuenos Aires, Argentina482 contributionsUmeda Building an amazing experienceThe Umeda building has two towers connected by a floating observatory located in the financial district. Admission to the observatory costs about $10. However, even if you don't want to spend, take the elevator to the 40th floor and cross two spectacular staircases leading to the observatory for free. There is a souvenir shop there. The ticket booth to go up is on the following floor.Visited March 2023Written 29 May 2023
- Abovetheclouds2,233 contributionsThe design and escalator. Pretty unique! The architectural design of the building is stunning. Best viewed from afar. I came from Umeda Metro. The Building isn't clearly signposted (until you get nearer) as Umeda Metro Station is huge. Look at the website for Umeda Sky Building and follow the directions from there. About 10 minutes or less on foot from Umeda Metro or there are other transport options as well. The Building houses many things including a Cine Libre. You can access part of the Observatory for free but pay the fee which is pretty reasonable at 1,500 Japanese Yen (June, 2023). The KUCHU TEIEN OBSERVATORY, Rooftop and Sky Walk were great. To reach the top, you will use an elevator, escalator and stairs. All quick and easy to navigate. Staff are friendly and pleasant and will guide you. Loved the escalator! Very cool. The 'museum' is interesting and you can learn more about the design of the building amongst other things. There is a cafe where you can buy snacks, drinks and other things as well as a shop selling good quality items (although a little pricey). Clean. There are toilets too. When you purchase your ticket as you enter, if you have cash use the automated machines. Otherwise go to the ticket counter if you want to pay with card and the staff will assist with this. I went early afternoon and it was busy. Nice views and weather was good. I wouldn't suggest going on a rainy day as the top part of the Observatory is open and it can be windy. For me, what I liked the most was the design and reaching the top. The escalator was pretty cool. Views were nice but not stunning. Would recommend.Visited June 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 June 2023
- Caroline WLondon, United Kingdom340 contributionsAmazing viewsExtraordinary 360 degree views over Osaka. Fascinating building design with escalators and lifts to take you to the viewing floor. There may be queues for the lifts. Don’t forget the retro dining experience in the basement - there’s a choice of retro restaurants which are good value . So many people miss outVisited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 July 2023
- Leanne Culina-PenzaSydney, Australia806 contributionsGreat views of OsakaThe building offers wonderful 360 degree views from its viewing platform. It was also lovely that you could view from outside or within an enclosed level. We went just before sunset, which is ideal as you can see the city both in the light and dark, all in one visit. There is a café where you can purchase meals and a range of beverages, so it is easy to sit back and just take in the view for however long you may like.Visited September 2023Written 18 September 2023
- MarkQueenstown, New Zealand2,910 contributionsSpectacularSpectacular views from a spectacular building, when you get there take the elevator to the top then take the escalator to second highest level, have a walk around and take in the stunning views of Osaka, walk around, maybe have a drink or something to snack on, then climb the stairs or take the elevator to the top of the building where there’s an outside observation walk with breathtaking views. There is a souvenir shop to browse through with lots of things that may interest you. My favourite part of the exhibition is the information room which not only has descriptions of the building sequence in English, Chinese and Korean but best of all is the short 10-minute video which shows the lifting of the top structure with 4 cranes, the structure weighed 1040 tonnes and took 7 hours to lift into place, this is the first time for this practice to be used, I thoroughly recommend spending the time reading the information and watching the video, when you finish at the top be sure to walk around the beautiful garden oasis, it was fascinating to find a serene place like this in the middle of this huge metropolis, be sure to look for the vivid coloured carp that wait for you with mouth's open hoping for a snack. I hope you enjoy this magnificent structure as much as I did.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 October 2023
- Bobbie WWarwick, Rhode Island1,366 contributionsIncredible structure! This is a must see structure! It was absolutely fascinating to see/read just how it was built. It’s something like 49 floors up (picture a football field, lengthwise and then add to it. That’s how high it is. From most floors you can see the surrounding buildings, which is amazing in and of itself. One floor has a gift gallery and an area to get refreshments. They even showed a machine roasting the coffee beans and then grinding them. Coffee is strong, but delicious. Plenty of other refreshments as well.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 October 2023

While you can pay for the outdoor view from the 40th floor we opened to stop at the 37th and save the entrance fee yen. Therefore we can’t comment on the paid view. However our view was well worth the elevator ride. There’s a souvenir shop where you an peek through and see what I think you see from the top.
It was an easy walk from the Westin hotel and not much further from the JR station.

Amazing views of Osaka from this building. The topmost level is a circular outdoor walk around the top of the building.

Overpriced and not that special. The building is high, but that's it. We spent no more than 10 minutes at the top. There are better ways to spend your money and time.

Great city views from the upper open-air deck of this interconnected skyscraper complex and of the building and ground below. Built with earthquake resistance, for this earthquake prone country.

Poor instructions given by TripAdvisor lead to me having to re-buy my ticket at the site. They were supposed to provide a QR code… The ticket had no QR code. I tried four times to reach them and heard no response, and there is no refund. I will not book with Tripadvisor again.

How long are the love padlocks left up in the gills?
(I noticed all the love locks are from 2022-2023 today while searching for ours from 2020. Would have been nice to be told about this at purchase because we wouldn't have purchased it in the first place if we knew it would be taken down. The girl I spoke to at the counter spoke no english so couldn't answer. Tried a translator but I got a weird answer. We were both lost in translation. I heard about being able to request for it as it's kept in storage. Does anyone know how? How long do they keep it in storage?

Of course they clear them out all the time so they can sell more padlocks ! It’s a lucrative business.

Hi
Is it best to visit this by day or night? Or maybe go prior to sunset as I love watching the city lights switch on. Tia

We went there at night. City lights are wonderful. My relatives went there on a day time. They had good photos. It’s hard to capture photos at night. But I guess either is fine. Depends on your preference
