The main reason to visit Nagano in the summer is to visit this impressive temple. Don't miss walking through the 'underground passage' - this is intended to be a meditative space, a walk through complete darkness with you hand to guide you by following the...More

I went here as part of a tour group and thought it was amazing. The temple itself was stunning. The history. The religion. Wow. It was an experience. If I had any complaints it was the almost kitschy Buddhist tunnel inside the temple you can...More

Apparently the most grand of all Buddhists temples in Japan. This is a must see. Many shops enroute to the temple...food/snacks/souvenirs. Many smaller temples within its location adds to the visit. Spent around an hour here. Visit is free of charge...unless you want to pay...More

Nationwide famous buddhist temple, whose history goes back to hundreds of years ago. The area is well kept, with many street food shops (there are also other kinds of shops, but I always concentrate on food).
