Mikiko, her husband, and her father-in-law were very gracious hosts. The history lesson and demonstrations were quite interesting and the craft project was perfect for our 11 year old and 13 year old. A highly recommended option in Kyoto.

This is a small facility that makes Tatami. We get a great lesson on the history of Tatami making and then were able to make our own small Tatami, great for a beautiful display. The staff was so friendly. An absolute Must Do.

Learn about tatami, how it's made (now & in the past) then make your own little souvenir to take home. Well worth the time! Even our 12 year old pre-teen liked it.
