A serene place and a must if you are in the area. Great walk alongside a very small river with beautiful cherry trees on both sides. I can only imagine how beautiful this walk must be during the hanami-season. But also in summertime this walk...More

It's a lovely walk, and since it was so hot, I went rather early and so could walk mostly by myself. The downside was that I was looking for breakfast and everything was still closed. The temples along the way are lovely and I particularly...More

Best way to move around the temples/shrines. Under the cover of trees and a cute flowing river with fish in! Lots of nice cafes and gift shops along the way too.

We did it on bikes during a hot August day. It was perfect. So peaceful, not crowed at all and really romantic. When you finish the walk, there is an animated street with many shops, before arriving at the silver temple (it closed at 17:30...More

We walked this with an infant in a pram with no issues. Walk is flat and easy to follow. Plenty of temples to view along the way and restaurants to eat at.

It is an interesting path that links kinkaku-ji temple to Honnen-in temple and other shrines in the area of Arashiyama. clam and boarded with cafes, shops and restaurants... this path deserves to be taken at least once...

This was first on my list to do in Kyoto and I would highly recommend including this easy walk on all visits. We started at the Silver Pavilion and walked along the creek to the end. Relatively short walk, we stopped at a tea garden...More

A nice long walk and spectacular when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom. Great many photo opportunities. Can get a little busy and chaotic which does spoil the ambience a little.

This place is said to be a favorite cherry blossom viewing spot for the locals. Right now, it is a nice shaded pathway with nice greenery all around, following a little canal. A nice walk going to/from the Ginkakuji Silver Palace and Nanzenji Temple, a...More

I strongly favor the Westin Miyako Hotel on Sanjo. It is at the heart of Higashi-yama so you can walk in one direction to the Philosopher's walk and Silver Temple and to Kyomizudera in the opposite direction. I have done... More

It took us only an hour or so to walk along the path, and we were stopping to take photos. But if you really strolled along, looking at shops, walking into the shrines, it would take the best part of a morning or afternoon.
