Beautiful in autumn

It's very nice to visit this place in autumn when all the colored leaves are turning the park into a colorful spectacle.

Overall experience is quite good. Morning exercise explore my sight. Famous painting is worth to see and with Japanese explanation. Beautiful environment. The living area is clean and sanitized.

A first experience is always very special. This was my first time walking along the roofed verandas of a traditional viewing garden. The gardens are stunning but so is this approach to the viewing of them and I was in awe. Being early August the daily temperature rose to 38 degrees so my family and I were very grateful for... This was one of my favorite spots in Kyoto. Admission covers museum and garden but well worth it--historic screen paintings, and garden is very serene, viewed from building with wonderful (if modern) paintings. Kondo and other buildings available without fee, nice grounds. An active temple, special treat is to listen to the monks chanting at 6 a.m., enter through the... More

This is a real find: an uncrowded and exquisite temple minutes from the train station. Even on a Sunday I could take pictures all morning without people getting in the way. The pond garden is only one of several on the site. The fusuma are amazing, real treasures.

This temple is very famous for its painting. But for me, who are tired of such attractions in many temples in Kyoto, the quiet environment is the best. You can enter the main hall, looking at the Buddha and meditate. Today, only another guests during my stay of about 30 minutes. Smell of flowers came in and I was very... More

With a entry fee of 500 yen this is well worth the visit, superb peaceful gardens. Main entrance was not easy to find as it is not well marked but google maps took us straight there

Chishaku-in ( 智積院 ) has it all. It can be a bit tricky to find, but once there, you enter a realm of peace, beauty, and tranquil meditative awareness. What makes the place particularly intriguing and inviting is the chance to contemplate the wonderful hill garden and pond all by yourself, or with just a few other visitors who are... More
