In a sense it’s kind of ridiculous to visit only one shrine in Kyoto, but what I’m saying is this is really one of the best. Definitely worth the 600yen it costs to get in. Go in the morning when it’s relatively peaceful and quiet....More

Just beyond the southern end of the Path of Philosophy, this temple has a peaceful, extensive garden. It's usually quiet and uncrowded. The gardens and solitude are worth the trip.

The temple along with the beautiful garden is very soothing! Definitely worth visiting this place while you are visiting Kyoto. Would love to return here in falls.

Dropped by as it wasn't too far from prince hotel and the reviews seem pretty positive. Compared to the golden temple, this one is pretty serene with no crowd. A nice walk up to the pagoda gives a bird's eye view of kyoto . Really...More

An hour would be a good amount of time. Lots of walking and steps if you want to see the temple. May not be easy with a stroller unless you just stay in the gardens, in which case an hour may be long. It also depends on the... More
