The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.

Very serious and responsive bike rental shop. Location close to the train station easy to find. Responded to our requests with great flexibility and adaptability. The bikes were of excellent quality and very well maintained. Clear explanations and precise directions for the walk. We enjoyed this bike tour. I warmly recommend.

I paid 800 yen for an all-day rental of a basic bike. It came with a helpful English bike map of the city's main bike paths. The trip was great; I got to see more of Kyoto than I would have by riding the subway. We rode north to see Kinkaku-ji, then west to see Arashiyama. The ride back from Arashiyama was very scenic on the bike path along the river.

Thank you for using our bicycles and writing a review! We are glad that you had a great time in Kyoto by riding a bike. The bike path to Arashiyama is easy to ride, and we also recommend to ride on the path in the season of Cherry blossoms (from the end of March to April). It is so beautiful! We hope we can serve you again on your next trip in Kyoto. :)

We hired 2 a bike each at 1000¥per bike. the company delivers for 300¥. unfortunately we were staying far out about 30 mins from Kyoto station. The lady at the office spoke to their delivery guy and they worked out a price for delivery to us 3000¥ for the 2 bikes. so all up 5000¥. this saved us slot of effort to return there in the morning and drop them off and find our way back on the train. They said they delivery would be made at 0845 and the guy pulled in the driveway at 0844. the staff all speak sufficient English.

we had a great day riding around. a fantastic way to explore the city.

The bikes themselves were ok. brakes were a little with but ok. For 1500¥ there was the option of electric assist bikes. In hindsight this night have been a better option as parts of Kyoto can be quite hilly. that being said, we rode to some temples which were a 30min ride uphill . the bikes also have baskets which is great. As you warm up you can store your jacket and gloves in it. also good if you have done some shopping. I also put my phone in there and used Google makes to find our way back home.

kind explanation, useful cycle map, very well-maintained cycles...
I strongly recommend this rental shop and would definitely come again for cycling in Kyoto. One caveat..like any other cycle shop or port in Japan, there seems no prominent sign board that can be seen from the street...So make sure you look at the map direction carefully if you are first timers.

The electric bikes made it possible for our family to cover a lot of ground around the city with maximum flexibility & not too much effort despite grueling hot temps.

This bike shop is a convenient short walk from Kyoto station. The staff was extremely flexible & accommodating & communicated well in English.

Take advantage of their pick-up/drop off service if you’re not staying close-in to the station, otherwise it can be a bit of a schlep to return the bikes downtown at the end of a long day of bike touring.

I recommend getting your hands on a good quality bike-route map prior to your trip. Although the shop proudly offers a map, we found theirs a bit vague & not super-helpful.

These guys spoke great English! The bikes were a pretty decent deal and came in so handy. We got to see a bunch of different sites in Kyoto and it was nice to be able to take the back streets and see the non touristy areas.

Everything worked out fine. Everything explained well. Bikes in good condition. We had Ebikes (50km range). I think 30km range is enough. We spent the whole day and returned with 50% battery level.

This was just around the corner from our hotel. It offers many types of bikes for rent and hands out map with useful information.

The staff briefs you well on how to get around Kyoto with a bike, where to park, where to ride etc.

Staff very helpful in making sure you have the correct bike.
All bikes well maintained and much better than any hotel bikes. So fees I think very reasonable.

I have read alot of reviews about cycling in Japan and even if you are a basic cyclist it a great way to see Kyoto.
Quicker than buses (Which you have to wait for), coming and going as you see fit.
Safe too as most of the time you are cycling on the pavement.
Map provided is basic but allows you to get around and I travelled to most of the places on it with little or no trouble finding them.
