Asty Road is a shopping arcade on the southern side of the Kyoto Station building. The mall/arcade has a good selection of restaurants and cafes as well as a good selection of well-known Kyoto stores selling unique local products such as clothing, pharmaceuticals, food and other groceries. Some of the unique local goods make for excellent souvenirs. One of the... More

It's a tourist shopping district (mostly souvenirs and specialized packaged food, famous in Kyoto) and a range of convenient dining options put together in a good location. If you're in Kyoto station and don't have much time for food/last minute shopping, this would be a perfect place to be.

If you need a quick (but not fast food) dining option, Asty Road provides a lot of restaurants to choose from. Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
