Worst Japanese performance with boring music and solo performance. No interactions with the audiences. Horribly overpriced and not interesting at all! Most of the audiences were asleep. What's more they don't allow photo taking, which everyone still take some anyways. To compensate the overpriced ticket....More

Designed specifically for tourists, the variety show gives short glimpses of traditional Japanese culture. The shows will vary to a degree, but we saw: 1. Chado (tea ceremony) 2. Koto (Japanese harp) 3. Kado (Flower arrangement) 4. Gagaku (Court music) 5. Kyogen (Japanese comic play)...More

The show was a variety show which went for a bit less than an hour and took the audience through various aspects of Japanese culture. It started with the tea ceremony, then harpists played as a lady did floral arrangements, then a trio of comedians...More

A mixture of Japanese culture. The tea ceremony and playing were good. The " panto " was excellent. The puppet show was first class. The dance and royal music were well performed but not to my taste. Generally the audience was well behaved. After being...More

Our only way to see a geisha, and a nice way to cram in some parts of japanese culture to a touristy audience. We had one night to do this in Tokyo, so turned up an hour early to queue at 5pm and we still...More

This is traditional Japanese culture for tourists. It is not cheap but it is very good. In half an hour you can experience a range of authentic performance arts. Some of these are very well known, like the tea ceremony and ikebana, but I was...More

This one hour performance of several Japanese Arts of theatre and traditions. From tea ceremony and flower arranging to different forms of music and finally traditional comedy, maiko dance and the invisible(?) puppeteers. A very informative show to illustrate hat made Japan tick over time.

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"

entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
streets on their way to and from work, where they fan
dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion

They move them, go to the hall and you will find ladies selling tickets and they will tell you where the venue is. It is across the street and down a sidestreet.

I cannot remember exactly in Yen but it was very reasonable. Maybe 30-35 AUD? I do not like paying for big concerts so I would recommend the experience.
