I came to this museum with a very large interest in Raku. Being a student, I very reluctantly paid the expensive entrance fee and was a bit disappointed that it was so small for 1000 yen. However, if you are interested in Raku, this is...More

I agree with the other reviews: the place is beautiful and extremely interesting, if you are into pottery. I personally am not particularly interested in pottery (or at least I wasn't until today), but I am really open-minded and curious, so I really enjoyed the...More

A lot of valid info are already stated about the museum. You should go only if interested in ceramics. The museum is difficult to find with no good public transportation around but great collection if you are interested in ceramics

Beautiful collection of Raku ceramics over the centuries. Each piece is exquisite and the museum itself is quiet and a lovely place to visit.

Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto
is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with
its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the
neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a
self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of
the city, it is a district where you can take it at
your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving
and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many
