During our visit to Arishiyama by early April, we just passed by Hogonin Temple due to time constraints. Have a glance inside the garden, the sakura trees were not in good shape but we still saw a few visitors strolling around the peaceful garden.

We visited for the night illumination and it was spell binding. Great mix of evergreens and maples, with very tastefully decorated buildings in the garden.
