Really nice temple complex with no crowds at all. Nice and peaceful place with beautiful old buildings. Well worth checking out

Not the most popular spot means you can enjoy this temple without crowds. The main hall is spectacular with a large serpent dragon painted on the wood ceiling. Some of the panel doors were in the imperial palace. Beautiful friendship bell outside.

I found out about this temple from a friendly local I met at a restaurant. According to him, it was the best temple in Kyoto. According to my guide, it wasn't even worth mentioning... I went there expecting something mediocre, and instead... I loved it!...More
