Great ride. If you take it ask for car number one (the open car). This gives you a better view on the scenery. However the chances that it is already sold out are great. Also make sure that you take the same side of the...More

We had Sagano train ride from Kameoka station to Arasiyama. The view along the ride was great. It will be more colourful during the cherry Blossom time. There is no particular stop for taking pictures. It is very busy train with full of tourists.

This is a pleasant train ride that takes you right through the mountains. There are some nice views without anything spectacular. We were there on a bright sunny day; it might not have been so enjoyable in poor weather. Once we were through the mountains,...More

Booked a ticket from Torokko-Arashiyama Station to Torokko-Kameoka Station. Seats were assigned but the train was not crowded so some passengers didn't sit at their assigned seats. Either side will give you good views eventually. It was great to see kayaks negotiating their way through...More

Took the 25 min ride, which oversee rivers and gorges. Guess the ride would be much more visual during cherry blossom or maybe even autumn. On the return trip, one can stop at the second station for a short cut to the bamboo forest.

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved

I was there during Sakura season and got a ticket, but I waited in line before their office opened. The seats are assigned so if you buy advanced tickets you are guaranteed your spot.
