It was a lovely spot to walk along, bamboo on either side is a real treat. I felt transported to some far off forest. You can get some great photos here too.

After taking the train looking down the Rive rvery refreshing walk in shadow. Some small stores using the bamboo are very intersting to look at. Maybe UCHIWA to cool down yourself .

One of the places to visit for nature enthusiasts. In Malaysia, we have bamboo trees but do not live on a single stick in the bamboo forest (more to in bunch and crowded). In this forest they make dry bamboo shoots as natural fences and...More

In my opinion this site is slightly over-rated.Basically the walking trail has rows of bamboo planted on both sides, nonetheless still a pleasant morning walk. Took a train from Kyoto to Saga-Arashiyama station (rickshaw pullers are available for hire here) via afore-mentioned JR line. Easy...More

Wonderful place to visit, beautiful but a little eerie too. Set in a village just outside Kyoto but easy to get to by train or car a real contrast to the city. Walk through the Bamboo forest, nice and cool in the shade, spectacular the...More

I had only seen pictures of the bamboo forest on instagram before visiting it in person. Not only are the pictures Insta worthy , they don't do enough justice to this breathtaking beauty.

The walk amongst the bamboo is rather lovely. It was a nice cool place to be on a very hot and humid day. We entered the walk through the north gate of the temple gardens. This was a good way to go. Plenty of people...More

This has been our third visit in the Arashiyama area where the bamboo path is located. This time we stayed at the Suiran, a few minutes walking distance away, which meant we could go for a stroll outside of "tourist hours". This is highly recommended...More

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved

houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the
riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature
lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The

You take the JR San-In Line and get off at the Saga-Arashiyama station. I believe it's 6 stops. Once you get off, it's about a 15 minute walk. There are signs outside of the station that you can follow.

It runs about 60 USD. However it was well worth the price. Most of the rickshaw folks speak English, ask before hiring if they do, they do give an interesting commentary. Hubby paid for it as a treat for me and he ended... More
