Nice for art and architecture

Architects would love to visit the Hyogo Prefecture Museum of Art. It has a good collection of art and one can spend at least a couple of hours there. The waterfront development... read more

I'm so glad we decided to visit! It was a bit of a walk from the train station, but totally worth it. The price was only $4.50 for a college student ($5.50 for adults) and we got to see some beautiful pieces. None of the maps or brochures describing the art was in English which was unfortunate because I feel... More

This art museum is a fantastic architectural landmark in the Kobe area. Designed by Ando-San. The permanent collection and varied exhibitions throughout the year are always worth a visit. the quality of the changing exhibitions is world class comprising western and Japanese artists contemporary and from the 19th century.

Architects would love to visit the Hyogo Prefecture Museum of Art. It has a good collection of art and one can spend at least a couple of hours there. The waterfront development by Tadao Ando is also a nice place to just sit around and be by yourself or talk with friends if you're travelling as a group.

We walked over to the Art Museum along the quay and from the waterfront walked around the building to get to the entrance. The permanent collection entrance fee is a bargain (300Yen, about 2,5Euro). Fortunately we also took the special exhibition access which was a bit more at 1300Yen. First of all, the architecture of the museum is impressive, and... More

The art museum itself is a nice building to explore. Lots of stairs leading to different view points of the harbour; austere concrete structure. The permanent collection consisted of many wood-cut prints depicting fantastical fables of the west. There was a collection of classical and contemporary paintings by Japanese artists. The sculptures were quite interesting too. Nice visit if you... More

The architecture of this gallery, by reknowned architect Tadao Ando, is an artwork in itself and for many will be a sufficient drawcard alone. The gallery includes a small but substantial and informative exhibition on Ando, concentrating principally on nearby works. Make sure you walk round the outside to see a number of sculptures. The gallery display itself is around... More

on the riverside and around the museum are a number of fantastic scultures to visit in free access without any entrance fee - don't miss the gigantic steel girl on the riverfront. the whole building is worth a visit even without the expositions.

It is not the easiest museum i the world to get to. But I am very glad I made the walk there even though it was 35 degrees celcius. Building is a modern architecture masterpiece. Worth the effort in itself. As for the permanent collection, I found it a bit dull (hence the 250 yen entry price) For an extra... More

We went there in order to see the architecture instead of the collections. Tho it's not that easy to go thr but the museum is impressive and the riverside is so charming and beautiful. Nice experience.

I went here to see the building but the exhibitions inside were so wonderful and i ended up staying for hours. They have an English brochure for the museum that includes a map. And all the introductory passages for the Hodler exhibit are translated. I hope that they will keep that up. You can check their website before going to... More
