It's almost never crowded, hence giving everyone a good view and encounter with the animal exhibits. We've never been closer to a panda (behind the viewing gallery of course), as compared to Taipei, Hong Kong, and Singapore. It also has a petting section for kids to pet rabbits and guinea pigs. The zoo has an 'ol-skool' but well-maintained and well-operated... More

We visited the zoo in April and met cherry blossom. As for the animals, I feel a bit sad that they are keep in quite a small place, for example, for brown bear, I found two of them kept in the same place with limited space. The bigger one walking around and around, seems rather restless and should not be... More

During Cherry blossom season the walk around park is even more pleasant. A quick stroll up from station along blossom lined street brings you to park where admission is less then $10 per adult. Lots of animals to see not large exhibits for all animals though so would say it's more of a old style zoo but animals seem well... More

Easy to access by train and just a few minutes walk away. Cheap entrance fee. Quite a big variety of animals and there was even a panda. A small amusement park with some simple rides was enough to keep my kids happy.

While this zoo isnt as modern as some (like Auckland Zoo in my hometown) - it had a lot of charm with typical japanese flavour The kids will love the exhibits, and the fairground rides (highly recommend the dragon coaster!) plus the petting zoo was pretty sweet Animal wise, was amazing seeing the Panda, Polar Bear and other animals we... It's up there with being the worst zoo I've ever visited. The enclosures, if you can call them that, are way too small, concrete, no food, no enrichment and no hiding places. The monkeys were looking around for food the whole time, very obviously hungry and board. Some of the cages were rusting which isn't good for the animals. There... More

This zoo was pretty good for the location and price. There was a decent amount of people, and the displays were nice. However, it is not a "must-see"

Located about 3km away from Sannomiya. You can take the Kobe City-line bus number 92 from Sannomiya and get off right in front of the Zoo. Entrance ticket for adults costs only 600 Yen and children below 4 years can enter for free. They have a good variety of animals and don't miss out to see the giant panda! It... More

The zoo is rather small but very well laid out and with nice animal enclosure. Most of the kids favorite are there, you can see it all in 3-4 hours and it's best at Sakura season because of hundreds of cherry trees on the grounds, truly spectacular at that time and they propose night visits with great light up !... Not liking the atmosphere very much, but this zoo has all the animals you'd expect to see plus more. It has a fairly big children's section where petable animals walk around freely and there's an amusement park inside the zoo. Extra fees for the rides. Recommended for families with young children.
