Thanks to all of the TA reviewers. Your comments were spot on. Made it easy to get there and an easy decision to go. A blustery autumn day was a perfect time to spend a few hours in an onsen, especially in the outdoor pools with the autumn foliage changing. The only thing I would do differently is lunch. I... The experience: Authentic Japanese Onsen with all that entails. No swimming suits allowed, men and women segregated, indoor and outdoor pools, wonderful water, beautiful setting. A great experience. The facility was a bit old and shabby, but not excessively so. It was busy but not crowded. We were the only non-Japanese there when we visited. Here's how to get there:... More

There's essentially only 2 pools in this traditional onsen but it's main attraction is the rotemburo which has great views of the surrounding hills... The onsen restaurant is supposedly famous for its Indian cuisine (yeah, it's a bit strange to have Indian food in an onsen in a rural suburb of Sapporo) as well though I'm not a fan of... More

This onsen have it's charm for sure, but unless you're into traditional old school local onsen, best you have your onsen experience somewhere else. It's just 2 baths indoors and a beautiful scenic outdoor. If you wish for something more to experience besides bathing and paid massages, look elsewhere.

Found out that this Onsen provides pick up service from a few points. Bus came on the dot at 9.25 am at Mitsukoshi Lion Stature. Nearly an hour bus ride as it stops in a few places including a major train/subway station. Mainly locals boarding. You may bring your own small and bath towels or buy /rent from them. Plenty... Outdoor onsen nestled amongst the snow capped mountains. You really can't get more traditional and picturesque as this. The experience of nude bathing in 40oC baths is something that really can't be explained. We purchased a bus ticket plus bath Ouse entry at JR Sapporo station for 1800Y each, very comfortable tour bus took us right to our door. On... More

Great old fashioned style Onsen in the Sapporo hills. Catch a bus which takes about an hour from Sapporo station and this Onsen is at the end of the line. Remember to take a towel to dry with- which I forgot and only had the little 'privacy' towel to dry with which was a bit dumb of me. The outside... More

Went there on the bus from Sapporo station as recommended by others in this review section. Would recommend taking the early bus, say around 9 or 10am, coz it got very very crowded with locals when we left at 1pm. Read up before going in, as in there are bathing rules and what can and cannot be done. I did... More

My partner and I really enjoyed our time at this Onsen. After keeping up a cracking pace on our three week holiday in Japan we did this right at the end. It was a great way to complete our trip and to unwind. They have the best Indian restaurant there so make sure u go ready to enjoy a meal.... More

How great is to enjoy a hot spring bath surrounded by snow caped mountains, naked trees, next to an old waterwheel... You are part of nature, one more. Birds sing just before the sun sets and make a great duet with the chants of water; Further, steam goes up and mixes with the clowds... When you leave the bath you... More
