- doctorfoxtrotTaguig City, Philippines13,227 contributionsCute Park , Pastries GaloreGreat place to visit any season of the year. The time we went there , just encountered so many visitors, but it was festive. History suggests that the founder should be making chocolate but decided to focus on pastries or cookies instead . An exhibit on how it was done was rather superficially demonstrated. But I suggest buying their specialties at the store or having soft ice cream or coffee at their coffee shop.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 January 2024
- aflame_SGSingapore, Singapore230 contributionsA great family morning at the Chocolate FactoryWe traveled all the way from Shin Sapporo with our kids to visit the chocolate factory. The entry price was reasonable, and we found the crowd to be manageable, which made for a pleasant experience. We highly recommend taking the bakery class, which was more of a pastry decorating class, but still enjoyable for both kids and adults alike. While the factory tour showcasing the chocolate manufacturing process was interesting, it didn't stand out compared to other attractions. However, we were enchanted by the outdoor garden, especially with the snow adding to its beauty. One downside was that the chocolate prices at the factory were the same as those outside, so we didn't feel the need to purchase any. Overall, it was a lovely way to spend the morning with our kids, and we left with fond memories.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 February 2024
- Hardy LigaIndonesia102 contributionsFancy chocolate factoryNothing special for elderly but for kids and young couples, this place is good for taking selvies, pictures and simple visit to learn how they make their famous chocolate cookies. There is a simple activity as well for your kids to learn to decorate their own cookies. It will be around JPY 1,200 per 30 mins (inside the chocolate factory building). To enter the chocolate building (they have mini museum inside as well) you have to pay tickets that cost around JPY 800 for adult and JPY 400 for kids. They also have a special chocolate store for you to buy gifts for your loved ones. Some neat cafes are also there but quite crowded because this place is also a tourist destination. Other than that, nothing so special about it.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 April 2024

- 197gabesSingapore, Singapore178 contributionsPerfect for anyone with sweet toothPart chocolate factory, part theme park. The place continues to be a must stop for many visiting Sapporo. It is not bad place to spend a few hours as there are plenty to see and it’s a great place for shooting photos for your social media posting. They even have several cafes both indoor and outdoor for visitors to rest and recharge. Entry to the garden area is free but you would have to pay admission into the building. The rose garden area is especially beautiful when all their flowers are in full bloom. The entry ticket is reasonable and it comes with a free sample of their famous white chocolate cookie. The self guided tour is informative, as one gets to learn about the origins of chocolate and given an opportunity of behind the scene view on how their popular products are made. At an extra fee, one can also sign up for a make and decorate a cookie or cupcakes workshop, which at the end of the session you can then bring back your creation to eat. Personal favorite has to be their cafe on level 3. It’s has great dessert menu with seasonal special and if you managed to get a window seat, it offers a nice view of the garden and it’s a perfect spot to watch the clock tower performance. For those looking for normal food or just peckish after all the walk around, they do have a cafeteria style eatery at level 2 which has a decent menu for both finger food and mains. After being immersed in all things chocolate and sweet is still not enough. There are 2 retail shops just before you exit the place. One offers more bakery items like bread and spreads, while the other is more for confectionery items. The latter is a sugar heaven, as it has assortment of their sweet and chocolate products all beautifully wrapped as gifts and available in different qualities making it perfect either for sampling or as souvenirs. But would recommend just buying those items that are limited to the park itself as will save you the trouble of having to carry your purchase about, as all their items are priced the same and available at both the airport and retail shops in town. Overall find the place great for young kids and anyone with a sweet tooth.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 June 2024

From Sapporo Station, you can take a highway bus bound for Otaru or walk from Miyanosawa Station on the Tozai subway line. On the day we visited, it was opening time, but there was a line at the ticket booth. They were students on a school trip. It seems that you can enter smoothly by purchasing tickets in advance. Admission is free on the day before or after your birthday, and you can also get a complimentary chocolate drink at the cafe. We didn't have much time, so we rushed through it. There was a piece written about the history of Shiroi Koibito, and it reminded me of the fact that there was a case of expiration date tampering. The shop on the first floor sold chocolates that were only available at the store. There is a charge for paper bags for small quantities, but you can get up to one bag for free if you put in a large quantity. From September, there were Halloween events and products.

It's been two years since my last visit. I've been there more than ten times, and now I'm an honorary member so admission is free. I visited on August 31st, and unlike when I visited two years ago, there were a lot of tourists, and it seemed like the park had almost returned to pre-COVID levels. Inside the Chocotopia Factory, a gold Shiroi Koibito tin worth about 30 million yen was on display for a limited time. I took a break in the Chocolate Lounge, did some shopping at the shop, and then left the park. I stayed there for about two hours.

Only activities there are DIY (for pay). Kids walked around, looked thru the glass, looked at some art and that's it.
Best part was outside for photo ops.
I've included a photo of the factory so you can save your money...

Since it was my first visit, I went to both the free and paid areas. The cute, fairy-tale-like exterior and interior have many photogenic spots. When you pay the admission fee, you get a Shiroi Koibito for each person. That's nice. It was delicious. There's a lot to see, including the history of Shiroi Koibito and a corner about Sapporo's soccer team. You can also buy souvenirs. I was very satisfied.

A friend once brought me some Shiroi Koibito cookies. They are divine! It is a thin butter cookie, delicately made with a thin layer of white (or milk) chocolate. They're the Hokkaido version of a langue d'chat.
I visited Shiroi Koibito mainly because I wanted to see what the fuss is about. It is a kind of small, cookie/chocolate version of say, Willy Wonka or Harry Potter world. I felt like I was missing some key cultural background to this whole Shiroi Koibito thing. Imagine going to said Wizarding world never having read the books or even hearing of the cultural phenomena. It looks fascinating but maybe I am not the key demographic.
Back to my visit. You can buy tickets to a tour and various experiences. I did the basic cookie tour which took up about 30 min of my time. On the 4th floor is this nice cafe with stunning views of the surrounding hills (I visited in fall so peak foliage and color). It has coffee, tea, good hot chocolate and lovely pastries. There are gardens and other things kids can run around that looked fun. Then I got to where I really wanted - the store. All the cookies as well as park exclusives in one happy place. I'll be honest, I did most of my family souvenir shopping here. Who DOESN'T want a limited edition match white chocolate langue d'chat?! The website looks like they decorate for various seasons and I imagine the winter decorations must be awesome!
In short, glad I went. The cookie is REALLY the reason to come.

Since I was there, I decided to go into the paid area. You can learn about the history of chocolate and Shiroi Koibito, and you can also take a look at the production line. It feels like you can learn everything about Shiroi Koibito here. Of course, you can buy Shiroi Koibito, as well as various kinds of sweets, chocolates, bread, etc. You can also get light meals and sweets, but you may have to wait when it's crowded. It's within walking distance of the nearest subway station.

I visited on the second day after the Christmas illuminations began. It was on from about 16:00, but it looked good after dark. The various shapes of illuminations, including the tree, were glittering. You can enjoy it well in the area where admission is free. There are also limited-edition items at the souvenir corner, so it's worth seeing.

Hi, the factory production is closed. How about Gulliver town, Kids town and the miniature railway? Are these attractions still operating normally?
Written 9 December 2018
I visited there in April 2018 & only the factory line was closed for upgrade. Even so, we were able to walk through but of course could not see any of the operations. It is still a very colourful & interesting place to visit.

Hi
I read on the website that they are no longer taking bookings for the cookie making workshops for December 2018?
I’m not sure if I’m reading the correct info. There’s only one simple notice in English and I can’t understand the Japanese website which looks more informative.
I also can’t access the previous site for booking of the cookie making workshops.
The factory production line is also not open to public?
In this case may give the visit a miss.
Please help to clarify if anyone has any information on this?
Thanks!

I was there in July 2018. The factory is under renovation till next year. You will not be able to see any manufacturing. As for the cookie class. We went when they opened in the morning and got in our choice of classes.

I understand that your production line is under renovation. Do I need to make a reservation for my family of 4 to visit the park? How much does it cost? Thank you.
Written 7 July 2018
No need reservation to go to the park but I strongly e courage you to take the cookies making lesson. It is really fun to experience it with your family. Entrance fee is complimentary currently not sure is it because I took the cookies course. Can get complimentary parking if you drive too.

Saw from the website ishiya chocolate factory is closed for renovation.. will it be worth to still pay a visit as it will be entry free ??
Written 12 April 2018
Still worth going - for the park full of cute objects and the shops. The factory line - which is part of the paid inside tour is closed. But to be honest - that's not so interesting anyway...you could still spend an hour or two at the park, the shops and the cafe and cookie making kitchen etc all as usual.

Does anyone know what age is classified as infant and child? I want to make reservation but stuck on this.
Also, if we just book for the kids, can the parents go inside to take photos?
Written 2 April 2018
