It's so impressive! The view from above is amazing, whether you look up from below. The Hinomaru squadron that won all gold, silver and bronze medals. I was so moved.
I was brought here after Jozankei Onsen. I have hardly been to the Sapporo area.
As I enjoyed the wonderful view of Sapporo, I was humming the ballad of rainbow and snow → my age is showing lol
I was a child at the time, but the Sapporo Olympics was a big shock.
Go for it, Japan! ️

This Ski Jump Stadium was one of the competition venues for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympic Games.
It was a wow experience for my family and I, especially during snowy winter. We love the ski lift ride. The ride was exhilarating as well as calming at the same time.
From the top, there is a look out point for spectacular views. There are toilets in the viewing platform. Too bad, the soft serve store was not opened.
I've been here during summer, but nothing beats the view and experience during winter. Not to be missed!

It was an adventure trying to figure out the bus system of how to get here, but the view was beautiful and worth it. There weren't too many people when we arrived as it was almost closing time (6 p.m.). Chair lift rides were quite affordable (500 yen) in comparison to the Mt. Moiwa cable car ropeway (1700 yen). There is an observatory at the top that serves soft serve ice cream. You can also buy souvenirs from vending machines.
If you plan to travel on your own, here are some tips. Take the subway to Maruyama Koen Station (orange line). Head to the bus terminal (exit 2). Take the JR Bus 14 and get off st the Okurayama kyogijo iriguchi bus stop. (Note: Do not get on any other bus that is not JR. That bus will loop around another mountain and take a break stop before heading to the ski jump bus stop).
Nearby the station is Maruyama Park, Hokkaido Shrin and Maruyama Zoo.

One of the "must do" tourist attractions in Sapporo. Take the ski lift to the top for a broad view over Sapporo and on clear days also Ishikari bay. Even in summer, jump practice is pretty common (think water skiing on a special surface). It is pretty amazing to watch, especially if you are riding up the steep slope as someone barrels down the other way. If you speak Japanese, you can also call ahead and ask when the next practice sessions are scheduled. It requires a very long escalator ride up the hill side to get to the base of the jump area!

A fun visit, and something different for me. The chair lift up was fun, but you can actually walk up/ down a small path to the right of the slope, if you wish. This is naturally only advertised at the top, once you've purchased your chair lift ticket! The winter sports museum is now closed until February ２０１７, so anyone going with the intention of seeing it, mind these dates.

Ski lift ride was ok. Not scary unlike those in Bursa Turkey. This place was Olympic ready since it used to host the winter games before. Good views at the top but of course it was much pleasant. There is a soft serve ice cream dispensing at the top.

I was fortunate enough when visiting the Winter Olympic museum ( same location) to pick a day with a FIS world ski jumping event taking place.
You can pay ( when no event is on) to take a gondala up to the top of the ski jump, i did not do this. I did stay to watch the qualifying jumps for the event. Admittance was free and it was not at all crowded. A cool experience if you have never seen it before in person.

We visited on the last week of Dec. First, we took the subway to Maruyama Koen Station, then a taxi to Ski Jump stadium. It was a short journey of approximately 4 - 5km at a cost of around ¥1400 for the 4 of us.
From the taxi drop off,it was a short 2min walk to the escalator which brings you up to the Ski Jump entrance.
We paid ¥500 for a return ride. The ride up was thrilling and the view at the top was beautiful.
It was a really fun and rare experience which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We left around 5pm.
To go back,one either had to call an hour in advance for a taxi or walk 15mins down to catch the bus
We were lucky that we caught one coming up, 5mins into our walk down.

I had visited on 1 Dec 2018 with my family. The route there was freezing cold as it was snowing and we need to walk for 15 minutes. I was wondering if it was worth visiting as we might not be able to see anything from the top as it was really foggy. Anyway, once we reached there, we are quite excited to sit on the lift chair as we had never been on one before. Despite the coldness, the staff were friendly and in high spirit. It was a bit scary to look at the back when we were on the lift chair as it was high and we only had a safety bar in front of us. But it was fun.
Luckily, the fog cleared for 15 minutes when we were at the top and the city view was amazing.
We didn't regret visiting the jump ski stadium in this cold weather. Thumb up!

The place was deserted when we went to visit and we were actually afraid we wouldn’t be able to get a a cab to go back to our hotel. We took the ski lift up which was fun for the kids. The ski jump was interesting for them to see but we don’t really watch the Winter Olympics so they didn’t connect too much with the sport. The view from high up the observation deck is really nice though. Maybe it would be better to visit during the winter season.
