Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

He Fang Jie (roughly 'huh fang ghuh') is a shopping street where most of the shoppers are Chinese tourists from other cities. Hangzhou is where Chinese people go to spend their money. The rich go to luxury stores in other parts of Hangzhou.
Bargaining is normal. The shops offer clothing, art, jewelry, wall-hangings, purses, pearls, herbal remedies, toys, and lots of other things. The side-streets off it, particularly those on the south side closer to the nearby hill, are full of shops too. Going up the hill on any of the paths is well worth doing. It is like walking into the past. There are a few temples and museums and lots of places where local people drink tea, and play mahjong or cards. You can walk for miles though very pleasant surroundings. I have been up on the hill 8-10 times, and to He Fan Jie dozens of times. They are both good places for almost any individual or group to visit anytime during the year, except perhaps on afternoons in July & August.

It's just a silk paradise and the prices are readjusted but you must always bargain for two reasons. First because you always must bargain in China and second it is fun. Everyone does it. There are many eateries around but they are bit pricey compared with the simple cuisine offered. Someone should offer some Hangzhou traditional specialties.

When you get tired of wandering around the Western Lake, or when you feel like shopping, make your way to the historic Qingfeng Street (清河坊 路), where you can find a variety of local products you'll probably want to take home. The street is full of shops selling tea, silk stands and hand-stalls. Do not be surprised if you come back from the street with your hands full of bags and find that you have no room in the suitcase for all the souvenirs. The street is one of the oldest streets in the city, and the only one that has managed to preserve its ancient buildings in a wonderful way. Most of the buildings you will see on the street were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. You will find the street near Wu Hill (or Chinese: 吴山) and near the West Lake. Even if you are not a shopping enthusiast, you should take a look at this special historic street and visit some of the ancient shops that still stand there, some of which have existed for centuries, including the scissors store, Zhang Xiao Quan Scissors (or Chinese: 张小泉 剪刀) The fans, "Wang Xing Ji Fan Store" (or Chinese: 王星 记 扇 庄). Zhang Xiao scissors are considered one of the five most prestigious brands in Hangzhou. The scissors began to be sold in 1663 and have since been sold in commercial quantities and have been highly appreciated. Scissors are known not only within the city of Hangzhou, but in the whole of China. The fans sold in the fan shop are of a variety of styles and are known as one of the three wonders in Hangzhou, along with the silk cloth and the Dragon Beer Tea. If you are suddenly hungry, do not worry - the street is full of food stalls. You can buy something to eat and watch the various street shows, people who make clay figures and people who work on Hangzhou's special tea making. Make your way down the street, to its eastern side, to find the most hallucinatory food alleys you will see in your life. The tiny alley is full of stalls selling roasted duck heads, caterpillars, giant snails, scorpions and other strange snacks that you will never find in an alley in Israel. The alley would be crowded with people eating these snacks in bulk and without thinking twice. Take a camera with you and record these interesting sights, and if you have no problem with this kind of food, choose something and taste it. When darkness falls, it is fun to walk around in the street, when the red lights turn on and the structure on the top of the hill is also illuminated. If you're lucky, you can watch a street show or street activities in the evening. The street is open from 9 am to 22 pm.

Being a foreigner and foreigners in Hangzhou are usually coming from elsewhere like Shanghai, Qinghe is nothing to write home about. A lot of cheap stuff that you would need to bargain and bargain hard for. However, comparing it to yuyuan market in Shanghai, which sells similar stuff, Qinghe is more expensive at lesser quality. Although I understand if you're in Hangzhou and looking for a place to go shopping for brickabrack, you gotta go here.
One thing Qinghe has that Yuyuan matket in Shanghai doesnt have, though, is an alley of awesome street foods. Not for foreigners with fainted stomach, though. But nothing pepto bismol and or those azithromycin can't take care of (just kidding. We all ate something and didn't get sick) We had the beggars chicken (jiau hou ji), yummmmmy!. It's the chicken wrapped in lotus leaves and they packed clay in a pot and cook it in there. We also had deep fried battered crab on a stick. So Yummmmyyyy! If we return to Hangzhou again, will go back to Qinghe strictly for the food alley!

This area is a nice stretch of shops and stalls selling food, clothing, traditional Chinese medicine, souvenirs, toys, jewelry, and art! A couple of hours here and lunch at a local restaurant is well worth it.

This place is a paradise for silk lovers like my good self. there is plenty of variety to choose from and you can barter as long as you like because it is a fun activity you do. However, the prices are very cheap like in Thailand. there is also a small but quite comprehensive food court where you can fill your stomach with cheap and tasty local delicacies. There are plenty of desserts to choose from but I, personally, do not suggest to try them out as they are just cream and sponge cake and, surely, nothing to shut out loudly about. overall a very entertaining experience
