- Jeffrey WNew Zealand6 contributionsGo early to beat the crowdsLooked this, but make sure you go early, I got a taxi from my hotel right to the entrance, arriving around 7.00 am, there was already a que for tickets to park (you will need to show your passport). Walk through into park then go to ticket office inside park for ticket to temple (again show your passport). It is amazing, loved it all, make sure you go to the house of the 500 Buddha's. By the time I left around 10.30 there were huge crowds outside, so am very pleased I went early.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 4 May 2024
- Tigre74Irvine, California100 contributionsAmazingly beautiful if you go earlyImpressive temple with amazingly beautiful ground. Come as early as you can to enjoy the serenity of each Halls, the architecture and decoration, the old trees... For us, the highlight must be Feilai peak and all the carvings status, the gorgeous stream and walkways full of old trees. There are small, hide-away traditional tea houses, and local vegetarian restaurants nearby. They scattered along the small road right next to the temple. You may need a guide or ask the locals for those places. They are not just beautiful, but very poetic and "zen".Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2024

Busy and hot during Golden Week but worth it. As much as I liked the temple (have seen plenty by now in China), the stone buddha carvings outside the inner temple area were even more impressive and I also went beyond Lingyin temple to see the tea houses and monastery. It's quite a big area to cover, but easy to get to by Didi / taxi and foreigners had to go directly to gate and pay there rather than at the ticket booth. I went in the morning and went to Longjing tea plantation in the afternoon, made for a great day. Calculate with 3 hours here.

This famous temple compound combines Taoism, Zen, Buddhism, and the ancient religions of China, starting with caves and limestone carvings, by the entrance, all very famous, and then there is a series of temples, one bigger than the other, as you walk up 500 stairs, with other temples to the sides. The top temple has the biggest Buddha, about 80 feet high. Another building, shaped like a Buddhist swastika, is the home to 500 larger than life-size ararats, each weighing a ton, made of copper, and very impressive individually and all together. Great snacks on the entranceway. A restaurant and souvenir area by the ticket place with good food and serious souvenirs. There's a well-organized bus terminal by the restaurants with tunnels connecting to busses. Thousands of Chinese people visit this place, plus a few foreigners. The lush forest has ancient trees and lots of bamboo. Down below, there's the famous West Lake and the beautiful, modernized, city of Hangzhou. It was once the biggest city in the world. Now it's just the best city in the world!

Multiple temples located in the vicinity of the northwest side of the West Lake. Also known as the Yunlin Temple, first built in 326 AD. There are over 300+ statues in the complex. There is the Temple Of Heavenly Kings, Guard of the Temples, Big Long Precious Hall, Hall of Medicine, Hall of the Crazy Monk, and many more. Well worth the visit.

Lingyin Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in China. It is beautiful, and the park is also breathtaking. We climbed a lot of stairs, but it was totally worth it. It contains multiple temples, pagodas, and small fountains.

Yes, this Temple is magnificent !
To reach it you have to walk a wide path along a stream between beautiful trees.
On your left, on the side of the hill, you can look at beautiful Buddhist sculptures carved in the rock itself.
You have also on your way to the Temple a few places where you can sit on benches under a roof which is very convenient in case it is raining (!)
The atmosphere of this park is peaceful, quiet, so serene and you should give it more than 1 hour to really enjoy it.
You reach then the gates of the Temple itself.
Inside there are many Halls with many impressive sculptures.
Also many people attend this temple to pray, which make this place and its atmosphere even more stunning.
In another hall monks and sisters pray...
All around this place gives a feeling of another time, so different from our western culture ...
This exactly what we were looking for when we decided to travel to China...
And if you like this traditional side of China, like us, then you should not miss this Temple.

From the city centre Lingyin Temple is 30 minutes or so by taxi along the shores of West Lake. Set in the scenic area of Feilai Peak (admission RMB 30) This large temple (admission 35RMB) was well worth a visit.
We arrived at 9am well before the crowds. Take time to explore the limestone caves and scenery of Feilai Peak and its many stone carvings before strolling up the valley to the temple entrance.
The buildings are mostly reconstructions of Qing dynasty originals interesting inthemselves, but this is primarily a place of pilgrimage and worship. We will long remember the smell of incense and the chanting of the saffron robed monks.
We stayed for two hours and would have been happy to linger longer.

Hello. Yes, you can eat something near the Buda Temple. There are many places where you can eat. When you arrive with the carril cable you will see. Enjoy. Laura

I booked private coach so transport was easier. Difficult to call a cab if don't have local bank account tied to Apps. Can rely on flagging taxi on the street but depends on luck.
