The outdoor show at night time on West Lake, Hangzhou that you shouldn't missed! when here!
"Enduring Memories of Hangzhou"A spectacular concert, directed by Mr Zhang Yimou, who was in charge of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
This outdoor show was performed for G20 last October 2016 and just made its public in May this year.
Using the west lake and its surroundings as props. It is a unique outdoor performance on natural settings. Lights and hundreds of actors create a incredibly beauty performance with the state-of-the-art sound and light systems.

This show lasts for about 45 minutes with several songs on which the dancers dance on water. The water effects are just awesome and a must see show. If you plan to see this in winter make sure you confirm if this show will be played, also, it is advisable to get the tickets in advance as the seats might be fully occupied. Also, if you plan to see this show in winter make sure you are fully covered as it can get really cold. (P.S: the ticket might cost around 360 Yuan). The ticket counter is next to KFC on west lake.

If you only have a night in Hangzhou, come watch this performance - great light show, great sound system, great choreography, great everything. However if you come during winter, make sure you are well protected as the performance is in the open.

The history of Hangzhou, from its mythical beginnings, through the Southern Song Dynasty, to its prosperous present, is told though light, music and dance, with the West Lake itself as the stage. The Dance of the Swans is a highlight.

The show was spectacular! Amazing lights, beautiful dances and music. It was raining when I went, I bummed out at first but in fact it's even more magical. Be sure to get the VIP seats to have a good view of the show. My only downside is they should've closed the gates 15 minutes before the show starts. There were groups that got in late, blocking the view, talking so loud with their flashes on because it's already quite difficult to find seats with the lights on let alone in the dark.

This performance is meant to wow the World leaders when they met up few years ago in Hangzhou. Enough set on the expectation of the standards of display.
There are hundred of professional performers in this 1 hour show. Recommend to get a VIP ticket which will give you a good view of the performance and a closer look at some of the singers.
All performances are in mandarin with subtitle in the large led billboards. Expect to see big colorful backdrop of West Lake while the dancers performed.

If you have seen a version of the Swan Lake opera at a local convention center setting - and fell asleep as the ballet dancers bounced around - like toy soldiers on their morning drill routine...you will not have that problem with this show.
The stage is a large lake with hundreds of performers.....feet wet and special effects lighting And you will not believe what comes out of the water!
Xu Zhi Mo...the guy that crafted the 2008 Beijing opening Olympics ceremony produced this opera.
Bring some bug spray and any drinks or snacks you want.

This is subtitled "Enduring Memories of Hangzhou". Essentially it is a musical show set on the surface of the lake. The performers sing/dance in a few centimetres of water. I was with 2 Chinese who had pre-booked tickets in the VIP area.
The show lasted about 50 minutes and was spectacular. There was very clever use of the light reflected in the surface of the water.
I was told the director was the same person who directed the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Well worth attending but the local roads are very congested afterwards so don't expect a quick getaway.
There are toilets nearby if needed!

This has been delayed, as was blocked for UK reviewers since my return from the PRC. Of the six evening shows I saw whilst in recently in China, this one (on 2017-09-17), this was definitely the best and now have rated Excellent, even though a couple of others were in the Very Good class. The price was about 40% more than any of the others but was well worth it. To see a vast cast perform music, dance and opera while actually on a lake, and effectively in it, with fantastic light show made an unbelievable evening. The fan made half of light and half of reflection in the water was probably the best item.

This production of Zhang Yi Mou had its highlights- superb vocalists and instrumentalists, excellent wushu display.
But the ballet segments where the girls had to dance in ankle- deep water was a pain to watch, sometimes comical. I imagine that dancing in those conditions would be very difficult for the dancers. More significantly, the effect is anything but graceful.
If you have seen the Impression shows at other cities like Lijiang Yunnan, this one would be a letdown.
Another problem is, getting back to your hotel after the show. Many taxis pass by but will not stop to pick passengers. A taxi stopped for us but the driver kept talking about the benefits of buying silk. Then he dropped us in front of a silk clothing shop before apologising for rushing off to fetch a passenger to the airport. Anyway our hotel was only a 5 minute walk away. What a night !

Has anyone purchased the vvip tickets for this show? CNY 660
Written 12 March 2019
These are for the first two rows. I don’t think it makes a big difference except you get some freebies like a drink. Get the VIP and not standard tickets.

Has anyone purchased the VVIP tickets for this show (660 CNY = around 100 USD)? Are they located in the 2 rows in the very front rows - the ones that look like yard chairs rather than theatre seats? If you have, please let me know what was your experience?
Thanks much

Hello ... does anyone know if I can buy the CD for music at the show? I love Kitaro's music.
