I thought it would be just another 'tourist' traps with stereotypical displays of various tribal cultures. Was I humbled by the experience! The setting is stunning in a huge national park, meandered through by waterways, evoking the real-life of ancient times' indigenous tribes! Plan at least half a day strolling through the various and very distinct tribal cultural settings, with... More

Didn't realize there were so many different nationalities within such a small area. It was off season so each village did not have performances. However biggest highlight was the elephants. Great interaction with them. Able to purchase sugar cane to feed them. Amazing experience. Elephants were extremely well behaved and the handlers appeared to love their jobs!

This is like any other cultural village. Showing all the different minority tribes and their lodging, culture etc. Place is very big but lack explanation in most of the places. If you don't get a guide(150RMB for 3hrs) you probably will walk aimlessly and don't know the stories behind. So I strongly suggest you should engage one of them if... More

Good views throughput the place. This is a park to visit right after lunch to have a relaxing walk and a glance of several different chinese cultures. The park has a nice chines crafts market to buy interesting souvenirs.

Good day outing to learn about this unique plural culture of Yunnan. Relatively cheap admission of Y90. Lots of walking and free shows at the villagers. Unfortunately not much directions in English. We did walk in circles many times. There are some bicycles to rent and I suggest renting them. There is a daily stage show which has to pay... More

Since most Chinese are Han people, most of the people you meet there are Han Chinese, which is why the Yunnan Nationalities offer such a different perspective. Beautiful clothing--highly adorned with silver-colored coins and feathers, dancing demonstrations--more quaint than fantastic, different foods, more interesting than delicious, and a sweetness and kindness to strangers that melts your heart. This is not... More

We enjoyed seeing and learning about the different minority groups and history of this province at the Village. There was a fun zip line to try and a show to watch as well as many other things to see and do. A great experience!
