Definitely worth the visit but one has to be fit to climb all the steps. Great views of the town and the surroundings from the top. Can be chilly on the chairlift and at the top even on a sunny day.

You could hardly take a good picture there, since there were a lot of tourists there. And, beware of the so-called cable cars were like this (pic below). Still, if u hv a day in Kunming, this place could fit into your schedule.

The Dragon Gate is in tge corridor by the side of the Taoism Grottoe, sculptures and corridor hacked from the cliff of the Western Hill. This was built by a Taoist monk and his followers between 1781 and 1835. We took the chairlift up the hill. From there we took a good hike for us from the chairlift station at... More

This natural parkland is a lovely outing, provided you are fit and able to manage the narrow slippery steps. The cable card upwards is pleasant and allows a sense of the height and the situation of Lake Dianchi below There are three temples; Huating, Taihua, Sangungge and then Dragon Gate. The view is lovely and a reward for the effort

If you just have one day time in Kunming, the Dragon gate can be put in. Well, it have a nice view to see Kunming landscape, as well as to take a breath for the fresh air. Recommend this for anyone who likes a little adventure and natural beauty.

You can see excellent view of the city and the lake from here. There is two ways of going up the hill for Dragon gate, cable ways and stairs. It will be convenient if you take cable way for going up and stairs for coming down. Journey by cable ways was exciting. It is a open type not close car... More

This is a great way to see the outskirts of Kunming and visit shrines along with other tourists. We took the gondola across the lake, after visiting the ehtnic museum. My husband's grandfather had visited the Dragon Gate shrine in the 1930's and wrote about seeing Kunming in the distance, now the town has grown toward Xishan, and there are... More

I was taken there without knowing what it was and what to expect. The place turned out to be great. Filled with small temples throughout the place is worthwhile to visit and access tickets are cheap.

this is nice place in Kunming area. If you don't like to climb stears, than it's not for you. the view is good but don't excpect to amazing "dragon gate". it's just a small temple. I suggest to come in the afternoon for better view on the Dianchi lake and Kunming city.
