I stayed in Westin Xi'an and was given two tickets to to the museum. So I went to check it out. My expectation was absolutely exceeded. The museum has a great collection of ancient murals from iron age all the way to Qing dynasty. There was another collection on contemporary jade sculptures which are really beautiful. I was in luck when I visited the museum as there was a Picasso exhibition going on too. I have never seen something even remotely close to this anywhere in China. Among the collection were a few pottery pieces of similar style from the ones exhibited in the National Museum of Art in Netherlands. Highly recommend that you ask for a guide to tell you more when you are there, which I always do when I visit museums. You learn so much more!

Dear Jun C,
Greetings from Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts. Thank you for sharing your review on Tripadvisor.
We are thrilled to hear that you have enjoyed your visit in the museum. And we’re delighted to tell you that items in the Picasso exhibition, including the silver plates and ceramics, all belong to private collection of the museum founder, which are not only rare to see in China, but also around the world. The museum has been dedicated to presenting visitors with the best exhibition and visiting experience, and we hope our effort could provide you with both visual and spiritual enjoyment.
As Jhon Keats puts it, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." We look forward to welcoming you back with more exhibitions if your travels bring you back to Xi'an in the future!
Best Regards,
Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts

Summary: An exemplary collection of Chinese art spanning several dynasties, complemented by a collection contrasting modern and traditional Chinese sculpture, and another collection of Picasso works. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Details:
Accessed from Yanta South road on the west side (despite the address being on Ci'En road). You go downstairs, there is a large red logo which is hard to miss approximately 50 meters from the corner of Ci'En and Yanta South.
Entry is 300 Yuan per person (cheaper if bought online but too difficult). Worth every penny.
Exhibits - as mentioned above there are three collections. The main collection is a large collection of murals from tombs, all in excellent condition and all originals bar one (many museums we visited in China had replicas, which is only evident if you can read the Chinese description of the item). These are presented in chronological order with descriptions for each available in English, and every piece is interesting in and of itself, while adding to the whole story.
The second exhibit is a collection of modern Jade by a contemporary Taiwanese artist, interspersed among traditional scultpures (mainly Ming and Qing dynasty). Again, great english provided for ~75% of the items (~60 second audio descriptions).
The third is a collection of European art, notable for Picasso scultures and plates, and one of the original "Le Penseur"s by Rodin. Not the normal collection of Picasso items, but interesting and unique.
Gift store: There is none. No sales, no pushy interpreters.
My partner and I had the museum to ourselves, and after we had been in the first room about an hour a curator arrived and gave us a free, two hour, indepth tour of the main collection. I was already having a 5 star experience; this cemented it.
I cannot recommend this museum strongly enough, despite the entry cost, and anyone with a more than passing interest in art or history should definitely visit.

This museum features tow unique collections: An extensive, and one of a kind collection of ancient Chinese murals, and, suprisingly, an extensive collection of sculpture and paintings by Picasso! There is also a smaller collection of sculptures by contemporary Chinese artists.
Noteworthy for China, the explanatory signs with each item are in Chinese, of course, and also, EXCELLENT, CLEAR, DETAILED English.

Dear Michael H,
Greetings from Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts. Thank you for sharing your review on tripadvisor.
Great to hear that you enjoyed your visit in the museum. The murals in the permanent exhibition brings a unique way to know about Chinese art history, and Picasso's later works (silver plates and sculptures in the special exhibition) provide you a more comprehensive understanding of his art career. We hope the exhibitions have brought you spiritual pleasure and inspiration.
We look forward to welcoming you back with more exhibitions if your travels bring you back to Xi'an in the future!

The museum is attached to the Westin hotel. Admission is free to hotel guests. Take time to visit. 30-45 minutes is plenty of time to see the treasures here.
There is an app you can load on your phone which will provide English explanations of the exhibit

Nice small museum at the basement of Westin. There are paintings, murals and some exhibits. We stayed in Westin so we got free complimentary tickets. I would not travel there just to see the exhibitions unless I have a lot of time and am nearby the Great Goose Pagoda or stay in Westin. It is a bit further out on the south of the city.

This is a stunning museum located in the basement of the Westin Hotel.
The displays of historical gold baskets and jewelry is stunning. There are ancient tapestries and early Chinese papers and art.
Free admission if you are a guest of the Westin.

Stopped in here after the Pagoda. Beautifully curated museum. I was shown the special exhibit by museum staff. She was clearly knowledgable and spoke great English.
The special exhibit was Chinese gold and jade. Really lovely and it was well curated so that I could see the details. The permanent exhibit was also great with a wechat audio tour in English.

Xian QuiJiang Museum is a wonderful and unique place that one should not miss when visitng Xian. It is currently showcasing some interesting and one of the kind Picasso exhibits together with a big selection of unique Chinese jade sculptures. They recently added the WeChat audio guides making it very easy to have a comprehensive self tour of the exhibits. As an added bonus, the WESTIN hotel hosting the museum is beautiful by itself. The museum is connected to the center court of the hotel which is a very nice and peaceful place to hang out after you finish checking out the exhibt.

Dear Oliver,
Greetings from Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts. Thank you for taking time to share your review on Tripadvisor.
Great to hear that you had a wonderful experience in the museum. Currently, the 3 exhibitions in the museum all feature in one of a kind items, including murals, Picasso works as well as jade and gold sculptures. As a private museum, we're dedicated to bring each of our visitor the best exhibition and visiting experience. And we hope the audio guide could provide you a more convinient way to visit the museum, in both English and Chinese version. Also you could choose to have an English/Chinese museum interpreter.
Located in Westin Xi'an, the center court is just beside the permanent exhibition, where you could go for a walk around the beautifully designed pool, or you could choose to have a nice drink with your families/ friends in the mix bar upstairs the lobby.
We look forward to welcoming you back with more exhibitions if your travels bring you back to Xi'an in the future!
Best Regards,
Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts
