- Blake EvansShenzhen, China152 contributionsTime TravelIs the kind of place where the experience speaks louder than my written words. Visit Xuanzhang ‘s statue in the garden at the front gate. If you hear the call, go see the Pagoda. Loosen your grip on time and melt yourself back into an ancient time. View the city from each of the seven floors. Take a moment to observe some treasures inside.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 21 October 2023

But nice to know of this 1500 year old pagoda that houses items from Xuanzhang’s travels. An UNESCO site as part of the silk routeVisited March 2024Travelled on businessWritten 13 March 2024

We visited at night and it is certainly very impressive. The pagoda looks most beautiful when lit at night. The architecture is not as rich and decorative as many, but simplicity can sometimes be more beautiful. On previous visits, I've enjoyed the views from the seventh floor of the seven-story pagoda. There is an additional fee to climb to the upper story.

UNESCO world heritage site. A Buddhist pagoda. The sutras were brought here from India and has strong links with India. The original structure got damaged by earthquake but is well preserved holy place for Buddhist. Nice garden and Squares. Decent place to spend time.

There are two tickets to buy, one would be to enter the pagoda grounds and another to enter into the pagoda to climb to the top. Really refreshing views at the top of the pagoda. Many different gods to worship and understand their history, though most of the explanation is in Chinese.

A welcoming and well laid out temple, including many pavilions and a school of buddist scriptures. Marble stairs with dragon carvings lead to the pagoda. The pagoda is situated in the middle of the temple and requires and extra RMB20 ticket to get in. Worth a 7-storey climb to see quite a panorama of Xian. Unfortunately,
Xian's hazy air doesn't make for great visibility.

Fully functioning buddhist temple with numerous buildings containing statutes and alters set in a pretty garden area. Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities. The Big Goose Pagoda is a separate ticket to climb to the top. On a clean air day it gives a nice view of the city. Conveniently located near a large shopping area with plenty of nearby restaurants. Worth a visit.

We visited the Pagoda on a tour in August 2019. The Pagoda is an iconic and historical monument with beautiful gardens and several Buddhist shrines. As there are people worshipping there, be mindful that you may not be able to take photos in some areas. There is a car park far away, and we walked approximately 1-2km to reach the Pagoda. However, the walk is through a lovely area lines with trees and market carts. There are many things to see. Definitely worth a visit.

Well, not that this place is a disaster, but it feels like complete waste of time, if you already seen at least one pagoda or seen at least one temple in china. Took us one hour drive from hotel in city center by private guide and basically immo after we paid entrance fee and got behind walls, i felt its gonna be disappointment. We luckily refuse volunteer guide. You need to pay extra to go inside of pagoda to again see nothing. Hard to comnent more on this place, very boring (and especially so in china).

From the metro to the pagoda you have to walk a bit through a pedestrian zone. Then you reach the entrance to a temple complex. The ticket counters were closed, but you could buy tickets online via QR code scan - as long as you have a Chinese number. We entered some numbers and received a ticket - "free entry to the bathing fun" - according to the translation. The temple complex is larger than expected and atmospheric. The complex consists of various buildings with Buddha figures and gardens. To visit the pagoda you have to buy another ticket. We decided not to do that. A few snapshots of the pagoda were enough for us. The pagoda is well preserved.

I found the grounds and surrounding area to be as interesting as the pagoda itself. However, the pagoda is certainly historically significant, as it is very old. It is in very good condition considering its age. Having a guide explaining things helped, but it's not essential to enjoying the visit here.
Weekday visit in April - not too crowded.

Is the Tang Dynasty Art Museum near the Big Wild goose Pagoda? I have had trouble finding information about it. Is this the correct name or is it commonly known as something else? I understand it is large museum complex with six exhibition halls and there is a daily performance of ancient style music by a live chinese orchestra inside the museum.

Sorry I have been away from home, with no Wi-Fi so I only saw the question now. Regretfully I'm not sure where the Dynasty Art Museum is as I was taken to the places by a guide and driver from Dragon Tours. They were very good and I'm sure they can answer you if you Google them.
