It’s open air so if it’s cold, and/or raining it’s quite unpleasant and perfect for a cold. All above was our case.
They herd you like sheep for 30min+ before you enter. there is no need to arrive early since seats are numbered

Awesomely beautiful customs, dancing by the performers, Chinese classical music, insightful cultural content, stage lighting effects, and more. The Tang dynasty story of an emperor and his favourite concubine was nice, although I don’t have the expertise to understand it fully.

This is highly recommended. The musical is designed by the famous movie director Zhang YiMou who used an array of colours for its special effects. It is about the love story of the Emperor Tang XuanZhong of the Tang Dynasty and his beautiful lady Yang. The show is not cheap, we paid RMB 340 for a ticket for a back row in The Central zone.

This was my second time watching the show but I was still enthralled by the superb sets and excellent choreography. My family was watching it for the first time and needless to say, they were wowed by it. Peter from Huaqing Palace helped us buy the tickets beforehand and made the arrangements for us to collect them at the Tourist Centre all in good time. A big thumbs up!!!

We had the nine course meal with the show. I must say the evening was wonderful. Our hotel was close to the park so it made transit easy. We were met at the gate with a guide, taken to a private room where we had our guide and two servers taking care of us. Each serving was explained and we were both stuffed after the nine courses.

Then our guide took us to the hotel, in the park, and we had drinks waiting for the show. After discussing the historical significance to the region we were escorted to our seat, right down front.

The show itself was huge. Using the whole mountain as a backdrop, over two hundred performers at any one time on a stage that reconfigured as needed, raising and lowering from the pond. I would recommend this, and the whole park to anyone visiting the area.

The planet is littered with attractions and events which promise so much yet invariably disappoint, banished from memory.....this is a very rare exception.
A performance that was beyond exhilarating, one which I doubt I’ll see the likes of again.

The show is performed in the location where the story is about which makes this authentic. The dance and light performance are in variety which gives u a couple of wow moments. The director is a master in leveraging the natural landscape, authentic location and even animals to create the visual impacts. Strongly recommended.

Was an amazing performance. Expected it to be good but i didn’t expect it to be that level. This is another level. Everyone who’s planning to go to xian should definitely go to the show. and do get the best seats. I got my tickets from peter, by emailing to the official website.

Most people visit Xi'an to see the Terracota Warriors, but I would like to go back just to see "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" again. This monumental light and dance spectacle (probably the best in China) is about the moving love story between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and his favorite imperial concubine.

The show is presented in the beautiful Huaquing Palace (not far from the warriors) where more than a thousand years ago their romance unfolded. A mixture of history and fairy-tale, with the smell of jasmine and the roar of war, using a real mountain covered with stars & the Nine Dragons Lake with its pavilions, willows, and fountains as its setting, THIS SHOW WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY. I've many, many, London, Broadway and Las Vegas shows and never seen anything come close to it. Highly, Highly Recommended!!!

I love my Broadway musicals and this was such a visual feast. Definitely read the story before hand if, like me, your Mandarin is essentially non-existent. It helps you follow the show and lets you appreciate the spectacular visual effects, dance, acrobatics, and effects. The use of outdoor natural scenery just blew me away. I know the most popular attraction is the Terra Cotta Warriors but this was my favorite part of my trip.
