We recently took a weeklong vacation in Guilin and Yangshuo and had a wonderful experience working with Wendy, and our two tour guides Sarah and Sam.
In Guilin we spent two days with Sarah visiting a custom created list of sites and activities with input from Wendy, Sarah and myself. When we arrived in Guilin we realized we had accidentally left a suitcase behind at the Shanghai airport. Sarah went above and beyond her role as our guide to help arrange for the airline to get our suitcase on a flight, and then have a Didi deliver our suitcase to the hotel. It was so helpful! Sarah's English is fantastic, as well as her knowledge of the area. She is kind and proactive, and also really in tune with our needs and our kids needs. We have five children and she was so patient and cooperative and flexible. She has a great sense of humor and when we needed to adjust our timing or our activity she always had a great plan. We had such a wonderful time with her.
In Yangshuo we spent two days with Sam who was equally friendly and enthusiastic. Sam also has a great knowledge of the area, interacted wonderfully with our kids and offered great suggestions that only a local can offer. Sam was also patient and flexible and when I wanted to make a change he offered new ideas and plans to accommodate what we wanted and needed. He had a great sense for what we would enjoy, and he is very hospitable and easy to work with.
Additionally, Wendy was prompt and on top of everything. Even when I changed my mind or asked a lot of questions or made last minute requests she always showed up and made it happen. I will definitely come back to Wendy for future vacations!

Eric from Wendy Wei Tours took us on an amazing three day private tour around Guilin, Yangshuo and the Longsheng rice terraces. We got to explore a diverse range of activities to experience the magic and beauty of Guilin. Eric was very help and accomodating to us throughout the trip, providing us with great insights about the places we were visiting, and making us feel very comfortable and entertained throughout.
The highlight for us was the walk through the Longsheng rice terraces and villages, in particular eating a meal in the house of a local restaurant owner in one of the villages, which was the tastiest meal we had in all our China travels. Seeing the scenery of the karst peaks that dot the region was also awe inspiring, particularly along the Li River Cruise.
Wendy and Sherry provided great help to us to organise the tour. They accommodated us with multiple tour options to suit our travel itinerary and preferences, with lots of helpful tips and guidance to ensure we could book the best tour possible.

We got the recommendation from a friend, I have to say it was really a very good service which was provided by Wendy Wei Tours. Christina our tour guide did an outstanding job, not only that she managed to guide us around the crowded areas during Golden week, she also had a very interesting tour arranged with many highlights. Thanks again Christina to make this tour remarkable for us.

My husband and I went back to China for the first time after the pandemic and took my mum on a private tour in Guilin. We had a fantastic time with Wendy Wei Tours!
Our travel consultant Sherry helped customising our 5-day trip in Guilin and recommended activities, hotels, and local restaurants to try out. She was very patient and thorough all the way through and answered all my questions.
Our tour guide Eric was fantastic! My mum only speaks Chinese and my husband speaks English but very little Chinese. Eric seamlessly switched between the two languages and made sure both my mum and my husband were well accommodated. He is also very knowledgeable and made sure that we had the best experience wherever we visited: we almost had the Reed Flute Cave for ourselves because of his great suggestion to avoid big tourist groups. We also took a lot of beautiful photos during our Li River Cruise ride because we were always ahead of other passengers in going up to the top deck with Eric's help.
Our driver was very relaxed and pointed out interesting sceneries as we drove among the hills in Guilin - I took some really great photos/videos with his tips.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience visiting Guilin with Wendy Wei Tours. Highly recommended!

We took the Guilin Li River cruise and the Longji Rice Terrace tour and I’d highly recommend both with Eric as a tour guide and Mr. Liao as our driver. Eric is fluent in English and took great care of our group of 5. The river cruise was stunningly scenic but also cold, so Eric let us warm up inside and let us know when we were passing the worthwhile spots for photos. Eric had also arranged for a birthday cake to be sent to the restaurant we dined at when I told Wendy we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday.
The Longji Rice terrace trek was more of a local vibe, and since Eric had just picked us up after our hotel breakfast he let us start with the hike and then end at the Zhuang village for lunch, based on our preference. This lunch was really impressive, with fresh bamboo shoots, bamboo chicken and rice, amazing monk fruit tea along with many other local delicacies. Thank you Wendy and Eric for making our trip to Guilin so memorable and making my boyfriend’s birthday so special!

After some research among the local tour operators in Guilin I contacted Wendy a few months before our trip. She was very flexible from the start and understood my requests by proposing a detailed and personalized program based on the needs of my family (two adults and an 8-year-old girl).
We were leaving from Hong Kong and, having only 4 days available, we decided to dedicate ourselves exclusively to the Guilin/Yangshuo area. Wendy got us the bullet train tickets to/from HK, and at the Guilin station we immediately found the driver to pick us up. The first day was dedicated to the splendid rice fields of Longji and the village of Zhuang (not to be missed!). The second day was dedicated to the city of Guilin between the old town and views of the beautiful surrounding area. The third day was the transfer by ship from Guilin to Yangshuo with the cruise on the Li River until we arrived in Yangshuo, where we were able to immerse ourselves in the tranquil beauty of the Yulong Valley. On the last day, before returning to the station for the to HK, Wendy suggested using the morning to visit Xianggong Hill. Never was advice more appropriate, despite the weather not being the best, we were able to enjoy a beautiful view of the river.
Sarah, our guide, spoke very good English and was truly excellent in her stories and explanations, always very kind, prepared and available to satisfy every request/need and to answer every question we had. Her presence, never intrusive, really made the difference. Furthermore, she and Liao, our driver, were always excellently coordinated, allowing us to minimize waiting times. Liao was always ready to pick us up as soon as necessary.
I will definitely turn to Wendy again if we return to China and I feel I can recommend her with full confidence for the assistance, the quality of the service, the perfect organization of our trip and the kindness of all her staff we dealt with.

Wendy Wei tour team is exactly what to hope to find when you look for a tourist guide. Wendy was with us since 3 months before our arrival in China tayloring the tour agenda on basis of of requirement, that where not common. She understood that we wanted something far for the crowded places still having access to the best sites and she designed each and every hours of our staying including a large number of tracking and cycling. Once in China, the two frinds, Andrew and Eric, transmitted all their entusiasm for their home cowntry, pushing on us to see how much is possible, also renuncing to their free time (most of the evening we closed the tour at 9pm instead of 6 pm as agreed, just following what they proposed us to do!). We bring back home the remenbrance of a perfet travel exeprience togheter with local guide that spontaously where imediatelly friendly and warm, making as fill so confortable in any situation. Nothing better could be expected. Thank Wendy. Thanks Andrew. Thanks Eric. Enrico and all his 17 frinds.

This was such an unexpected surprise... My guide was Patrick and he made my day as great as possible! I'd highly recommend taking a boat to see the giant Buddha, instead of walking, so that you have time to visit nearby places, such as ancient towns and tea fields. Patrick literally knew everybody from the villages and, by translating my questions, I was able to "talk" to elderly people, majang players, shop owners and so on. We had the best lunch at a local restaurant, incredibly tasteful, and also tried many fruits and desserts from the local markets. After it, we went to a tea field, owned by Patrick's aunt, and I had the opportunity to pluck tea leaves for a while and learn how to prepare them, in the traditional handmade way! It was such an authentic "dive" into chinese culture... One of the best tours I've ever had! The driver was also excellent! I'll never forget the memories from this day! Thank you so much for the amazing experience!

An absolutely incredible day, well worth the money. The drivers and models for the photography were all exceptional. Even if you only have a basic knowledge of photography composition and camera settings, you will get excellent photos and videos because the models are so experienced and the timing for the lighting is perfect.

We travelled around China in March/April 2024. We used Wendy’s tours for a visit to the Lonji Rice Terraces. A guide/driver is a must for this area and Wendy’s tours was outstanding from the outset. Communication, knowledge and organisation in advance was brilliant. On the day of the visit, our driver Ou and tour guide Sarah were at our hotel to pick us up on time. Being driven in China can be an experience :) but Ou was excellent, calm and safe, navigating the winding mountain climb roads and small landslides brilliantly. Sarah was an outstanding tour guide. We were travelling with my 71 year old mother and 9 and 10 year old sons. Sarah interacted with us all and had a lovely manner. She went at our pace and was fun. She taught us a lot about the local area but also about wider Chinese customs and practices. We had a lunch in a traditional house which was made by a lady called Hou who owned the house we ate in. The food was delicious! We had chicken and rice cooked inside bamboo in a traditional way and then lots of different vegetables cooked fresh while we were there. The visit to the rice terraces was very memorable and enjoyed by all. Book without hesitation!

Hi Wendy, we (2 persons) would like to have tour to Guilin for 7 days in Aug 2018. Could you suggest itinerary for the tours?
Written 21 June 2018
Hi Lannykarta, thanks for your inquiry and sorry about the delayed response as I've only just seen your message left on Tripadvisor!
In terms of tour preferences (if you're still interested of course!), over 7 days you really have a LOT of options! If you wanted a slow-paced tour you could based yourself around the Guilin/Yangshuo area and have a few days of tours mixed in with time at leisure. However, if you wanted to visit different attractions and experience different activities each day, you have a number of choice. For example, based upon our previous' clients visit experience, some of the popular 7-day type tours can include the following:
Option 1: Guilin/Yangshuo/Longji Rice Terraces/Guizhou Province with a loop back to Guilin or departure from Guiyang
Option 2: Guilin/Yangshuo/Longji Rice Terraces and further time spent in and around Nanning (e.g. Detian Waterfalls/Tongling Grand Canyon as well as a night or two in Nanning).
Option 3: Guilin/Yangshuo/Longji Rice Terraces + travel up to Zhangjiajie (with stopover on the way at Fenghuang) with departure from Zhangjiajie
Of course, there are other options too but these would be the most popular based upon our experience and previous clients' interests.
Unfortunately, I'm not permitted to post any links or contact information on Tripadvisor due to TA posting guidelines. However, we can be found online through all the normal mediums and either myself or one of the team members in our Guilin office would be happy to assist with your inquiry.
Again, apologies for the delay and any inconvenience caused - we do endeavor to reply to emails within 24 hours but don't check Tripadvisor so often.
Hope you have a fantastic day/night wherever in the world you are located :)
Kind Regards
Wendy

If we (my wife & I) had 7 days in China what tours would you recommend also are you able to book hotels. Also is there an airline that you would recommend flying from Canada.
Written 12 March 2018
It depends on what you want to see - city, rural/country side, or scenery, or what. Wendy has other offices throughout China so if you get in touch with her, she can give you a better idea and gear your vacation for your interest. Hope this helps.
