Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great for families, singles, and people of all ages. It is a nice place for walks, jogging, paddle boat ride, cycling, viewing the well-kept gardens, visiting the museums located onsite (although a bit of a hike from the main entrances, and much more.

I often go for walks in this large park. Most take me at least an hour, as I go from an entry point on one side to an entry/exit point on another side (Usually going from the entry/exit closest to Doubletree GZ hotel to the entry/exit closest to Marriott or China Hotel). The walk is fairly energizing as there are a lot of ups and downs, on winding walkways. The air is fresh and relaxing, and there is always something new to see.

I walked through the park with the hope of seeing a lot of Spring Festival flower displays. During Spring Festival, the districts of Guangzhou have beautiful flower displays, often in parks and on streets, locally referred to as Flower Street during Spring Festival. Although the park hosts a very beautiful after-dark light show, there seem to be no special flower displays. During my Sunday walk, there were few visitors, and most of the children’s rides were not operating. Despite my disappointment in not seeing elaborate Spring Festival flower displays, it is a great park to come for relaxing fresh air walks and viewing the scenery.

We enjoyed our leisurely walk through half of the park. Basically we walked to see the statue of the five rams, and took the shuttle to an exit. Lots of tress, some flowers, nice ponds, lots of Koi, and much more. The park has a lot of rolling hills. Thus it takes a little energy to walk it.

Today being October 1, 2016, was National Day in China, and the start of a seven-day holiday week, so Yuexiu Park was very crowded. I’ve previously toured parts of the 212 acre park and on three other occasions saw the Five Rams stone sculpture, which is likely Guangzhou most famous tourist attraction and the emblem of the city. Tied to the Five Rams Sculpture is a 2,000+ year legend.
Since I generally stay at the DoubleTree By Hilton hotel just a few blocks from one of the park entrances, I often walk through parts of the park, to get some daily exercise and nice fresh air. Especially in the morning and evenings, one often sees locals performing morning and evening Tai Chi exercises which to me seems like some form of Chinese dancing, people jogging and others having a relaxing walk.
The park attractions include an area of numerous Wonderland type rides, many of which go far too fast for anyone over 45 to get on and others which target three to ten year-olds.
Other significant attractions include the Guangzhou Museum, sections of old city walls, Yuexiu Mountain Football Stadium, paddle-boating on the lake within the park, and other sports areas.
Being the beginning of October, the flower/flora displays were not as great as they typically are in the April to August months.

I had read of this park, but you would never have guessed what it was driving past. Our guide took us here to show us the symbol of the city of Guangzhou - the 5 Ram Statue, which stands atop a hill in this pretty and well maintained park. Let me tell you, if you aren't fit, the stairs up to this statue will be a serious challenge. But it is well worth the climb! Very well established paths to walk on, waterways with hire boats, it would be lovely to spend more time exploring this hidden gem, a great way to take some time out from the madness of the city!

Blatantly charge double even with the price printed on the bottle water at the store leading to the park.

Still very hot midday in October too.
I had some places of the park predefined, like the old GZ wall, the ancestors square, the 5 ram statue (it is said that brings you luck to see it, so go there at least once while in GZ).
Enjoy!

Yuexiu Park is the main green area in Guangzhou. It is a huge park with some historic sites. Be prepared for some real uphill walking. Staff is super unfriendly.

The Park is a nice place to spend the day. It has many historical spots inside of it, like the Guangzhou museum, Sun Yat-sen Monument, Five-ram Sculpture which is the city’s symbol, Si-fang (Square) Fortress remnants of modern artiller, etc. And there are beautiful lakes, gardens, and relaxing trails to walk along, children playgrounds as well. It is easily accessible by public transports. One more thing, it is free entrance in case you are money conscious.
