The museums in Shanghai and Beijing were much better. This one was large but scanty on interesting exhibits; I did not see any notable international exhibits.

Some of the wood carving and gilded wood objects are truly stunning. But an awful lot of this museum lacks any modern approach to museum experience. For non-Mandarin or non-Cantonese speakers, very minimal English throughout. Neither guides nor item descriptions are in English. Don't bother.

Impressive from outside, depressive inside. huge corridors and lack or art pieces displayed. everything looks empty. The only interesting section is the woodcarving masterpieces which are a top to be seen but deserve by the building.

Our 2nd visit to this museum for the exhibition on Anhui history and culture which will end on 27 Nov 2016. All exhibits and artefacts were moved from Anhui Museum for short term display in this museum. The exhibition arrangement started with the history of settlement of first group of habitants, wood and stone craftwork, paintings of Huangshan, etc. On... More

Very well put together, interesting and a lot of artefacts. Do avoid this place during the public holidays as it gets extremely crowded. My friend went on a public holiday with family and they couldn't get in, with a large queue waiting outside in the sun. I will go back again :)

We didn't plan this museum because we didn't think we'd have time but we were in the area an hour before closing (just before they stopped letting people in). The museum is free and since we only had an hour will chose 1 exhibit (history) to visit. There is lots of information in English and it's well presented except for... More

Unique architecture, 4 levels with multiple halls of exhibits. Cater approximately 2hrs and more if you are a serious museum lover who will walk through every exhibit. If you have very limited time, go straight to the Guangdong Cultural exhibit, very educational and enriching showcase of the history of the region. Photography is allowed in the museum.

The best floor is the 5th floor. It has a lot of historical information talking about China's complex history of the area. The other floors are more focused on geological research.

The museum is located at the southern end of the Zhujiang new town park making it the last building there. Its unique archictecture already tells a bit of the complex nested inside structure. We visited the ocean and natural exhibit where scaled ocean dwellers and dinosaurs were displayed. In the natural part an impressive odering of biological families and species... More
