    Past glory of Canton
Shangxiajiu was the street of Guangzhou. Once a popular gathering place among locals, it is now a somehow rundown pedestrian street with quite a lot of vacant shops. The remaining ones are cheap boutiques available elsewhere is the city. Go to nearby Beijing Road for better experience.

Another bustling shopping street where you can shop/eat until you drop!
This is another must visit place in Guangzhou, one of the two largest shopping streets (the other being Beijing Lu) as it also offer visitors so many things to see, shop and eat. It's bustling with human crowds at all times. There are so many shops offering a wide range of merchandise and products that surely there be something to suit you and family. Besides these, there are also lots of major shopping malls, supermarkets, eateries, cafes and restaurants, makeshift stalls around to entice you! One can simply spend a full day here to shop, eat and shop again until you drop! The nearest metro station was Cultural Park and about 10-12mins walk from here. Recommended.

Lots of touristy goods for sale
The Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street has many small shops, a few department stores, snack bars, fast food eateries, and more. I do most of my shopping on the side streets, where there are specialty shops, and the prices are slightly lower. At the upper end of the street, there are many eyeglass shops. I have bought many pairs of glasses there at about a 65% discount to the price I would pay in the US or Canada.

love this place i dont even go to Beijing lu anymore. closes late and you can find anything there. both cheap chinese chain stores, trendy boutiques, food, fresh coconut milk, fresh sugar cane juice, cute kids' clothing shops, traditional chinese dresses, chinese jewellery, souvenirs, cheap underwear stalls, lots of shoes (they don't have large sizes, so 38 is the largest usually, which they call 39 but its 38), underwear shops, fresh fruit, coconut jelly served in coconut shell with fruit, chinese food stalls, fast food, milk teas and more...

A Hint of Local Authentic Ambiance
Shorter than Beijing Lu, but has lots of character. The area seems a bit more authentic than Bejing Lu, so it's a good visit if you prefer that mood. I walked from an area which seems very local, a wholesale market was nearby and lots of shops and restaurants too.

My wife and I stay in a hotel next to Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street and we were shopping there almost everyday. We love the place. It is so vibrant, cool and happening place. We found the best dessert store, the best fashion shop and all the street food eateries. Really a must-go place for anyone going to Guangzhou.

This is a pedestrian walking street with many, mostly smaller shops, cafes, and eateries. The prices are okay and one can generally find something unique to buy, and even eat at one of the many, mostly Chinese eateries. As a sightseer, what I like most are the many bronze statues spread across the length of the street. Many people use these as photo ops. All the statues have a plaque indicating description. These include: Foreign women in Chinese costume, A girl on a sedan chair, Naughty kids, Funny kid, Tailor-made apparel, Bucket full, Swank lady, Chinese herbal tea, Good Luck in New Year, Communication, A bubble car came into a parking lot, and many more.

The area, normally crowded in the early evening with people, is mostly void of people. And those we periodically saw, wore breathing protection masks to protect themselves against the coronavirus.

I find this street interesting, and sometimes buy a few small gifts for friends. The clothing is mostly inexpensive and low to medium quality. Most of the restaurants are very Chinese, with a few Western offerings. I prefer Beijing Lu, which has significantly fewer shops, over Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street.

Every where in Main Streets; especially Nanjing Road, the bronze statuses are spreading fun and art to the city. Very nice catch for cameras

We walked the area to shop for souvenirs, some more expensive stones on side streets, and enjoy some Chinese street food. All seem to be COVID-19 cautious and masked.
