This is not a very large museum but it has a surprisingly good collection of Russian Art. Besides the unique collection of local Kasli cast-iron sculptures there are paintings by Aivazovsky, Bryulov, Kramskoy, Perov, Malevitch, Kandinsky, etc. There´s also an interesting painting by Boris Pasternak´s father.

An ugly building housing some amazing fine iron art. Not just this but paintings, objects and a really nice stone collection. Its fairly unassuming and I am sure not to everyones taste but you will find things you like. When it comes to art I like traditional skills so the modern art did nothing for me but its only one section. Its well with a visit and gets you out of the cold!

Although there are rooms with paintings, the real fine art here is the metal sculptures and grand centerpiece room of the same that won out in a competition over the Eiffel Tower. Once I took a closer look at what was in the exhibition cases to appreciate the artistry that went into these works, my level of admiration significantly rose. Do not miss the jewelry exhibit on the second floor.

I am beginning to formulate this idea about Russian Fine Art Museums. Stick in a few odd Impressionist paintings in with a load of old tat and take a couple of pounds at front door...da da!!! Same, same here except they also had a small exhibition related to space exploration. Thank the space Lord
