Right in the middle of downtown, surrounded on all sides by traffic jams is this relatively small church. Not sure if it's actually accessible or open but it is a sight not to be missed

A lovely little church right in the middle of town. If you are in Novosibirsk you have to see it and it is hard to miss.

I spent the first few days in Novosibirsk when I first met my wife. This beautiful little church always reminds me of those romantic days in Novosibirsk. I always look forward to seeing it again.

The Chapel of St. Nikolai was built in 1915 in honor of the 300-year anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty, and served as a symbolic center of the Russian Empire. During the years of communism the chapel was destroyed. Later it became a place for the Stalin monument, which has also been destroyed after the exposure of the Stalin personality cult.... More

It is said that chapel is build in the geographical center of Russian Empire. It was destroyed in 1930th and rebuild in 1993, 100 anniversary of Novosibirsk. Thus tourists, so to say, obliged to see it. It looks nice, but it is really small. Wedding couples like to visit this place, also sometimes there are services here. In this case... More

This chapel was built in 1914 to symbolize the center of Russian Empire, in 1930s it was destroyed and the place was used to hold a statue of Stalin, then the statue was torn down and eventually the chapel was rebuilt in 1993, so this place is quite historic. This chapel represents the centre of russia ( i assume when it was the u.s.s.r.).....it now stands on a very wide central reservation of a EIGHT LANE HIGHWAY, four each way,......unfortunately it was closed when i was there,....but peering through the door it was one room,...used as a souvenier shop.... but nothing to stop you saying a prayer whilst inside.......its... More
