This is probably going to be your first impression of Krasnoyarsk, as I think most city visitors arrive by train.

The Railway Station and The Railway Station Square, here in Krasnoyarsk, Russia Siberia, are at the very heart of your trip if you either arrive into, or depart from, Krasnoyarsk by train. I have had the experience of doing both. Arriving and departing. The exterior of the Railway Station, as viewed from the square that it fronts on, is very attractive and hearkens back to the old and historical facades of railway stations here in this part of Europe and Asia.
In my opinion, even if you are neither arriving nor departing, IF you have the time and the interest, a visit would be worth your while.

The train station is new 82004) and seems different to new post soviet buildings (in a positive way). The square itself is small and accessible by taxi or you can walk from nearby hotels if you like.

This is the first and the last place peoples will see when they come by train. Railway station was repaired several years ago and now it looks very nice and spacious with walls painting yellow and white. You better know at least to read Russian letter in order to be familiar with the train time table and the places name.
Opposite the entrance is a column with symbol of Krasnoyarsk, a lion that keeps a spade and a sickle that symbols of the agriculture and the mining of the city. There are many stalls in the square near the station.

Lovely vibrant central square, busy without being crowded and a lovely glimpse into a typical day in the life of a bustling Siberian city. There is a lovely view of the railway station if you cross the street onto the square itself and a few lovely coffee stall to the left of the station doors as you come out.
But the real joy has to be the beautiful red mural on the side of the square to the right as you exit the train station. It is spectacular.
We spent a very relaxing hour here before continuing on our Trans-Siberian rail route and had a good time chatting to locals, buying in the market and relaxing.

Railway Station Square is a place that guests of Krasnoyarsk that came by trains see the first. There are 2 main attractions at this square: Railway station and column with symbol of Krasnoyarsk. Railway station was repaired several years ago and now it looks very nice and comfortable. The column was erected relatively recently and it looks nice.
