We visited the Cathedral at Easter night. It was crowded. Beautiful songs and church music were making a special atmosphere. The church is not surrounded with tall buildings so it was gorgeous at sunset. The interiors and exteriors are elegantly decorated with elements of Russian Modern. Small but nice details.

This beautiful church is located outside of center, at the "strelka" of both Oka and Volga rivers. Impressive and one of the biggest temple in the city. There is also astounding wooden iconostasis inside it. In front of the church there is a large cathedral bell temporarily installed.

This is currently the main city cathedral in Nizhny Novgorod, located just next to Kanavino bridge downhill from Kremlin, open till late, we admired its beautifully carved wooden iconostasi, one of the bioggest in Russia and a rich collection of orthodox icons, some of them unique to be found nowhere else.. it`s a very interesting site to visit surely worth... The Saint Alexander-Nevsky Cathedral is the highest one in Nizhny Novgorod. Its height is 80 metres. The cathedral was built for the means of tradespeople of Nizhny Novgorod in 1881 at the memory of the visiting of Nizhny Novgorod by the Emperor Alexander II in 1858. In 2009 the Saint Alexander-Nevsky Cathedral got the status of the cathedral.
