This is a small museum but is full of fascinating details of the life of the poet and her circle. We sat at her table and listened to her voice reading her poems, and saw the room where she learned, from the newspaper, of her...More

Very good small museum that provided a good insight into the life of Anna Akhmatova. The domestic setting of the apartment provided an extra insight. The guides - though not speaking English - aimed to help us with handouts. The museum is a bit hard...More

This museum is dedicated to one of the greatest Russian Soviet poetesses. It gives a very good idea of what life in USSR used to be like, of those sufferings, repressions many talented outstanding people had to go through, of WW II. And the museum...More

The entrance from Liteyny Avenue 53 to the park can be missed. After leaving the traffic behind, some minutes of walk in the park towards the museum entrance will quiet your spirit. Even if you are not into poetry, is worth visiting this small and...More

In the very heart of the city and takes some finding, but well worth the search. A history filled museum, very thoughtfully laid out and full of atmosphere. A very special place, and if you know her poems, this is THE spot to visit.

This is where Anna Akhmatova lived in a communal apartment during the Soviet years. It is very moving to see the circumstances in which she wrote "Requiem."

I fell in love with her work when I first read her poems in translation. And then I managed to even see where this brilliant woman lived. I liked that there was an audio guide in the museum. I advise you to visit.

Having just started to read Akhmatova's poems and history, I was completely overwhelmed by this lovely little museum. It is very apparent, and rightfully so, that Akhmatova is very much loved by Russians. The museum focusses on a Russian public, but tries to cater to...More
