The winter palace is a HUGE museum with much beautiful artwork. The only problem is the crowds of people. It is very difficult to enjoy because of this. Also, if you are there in the summer, the air conditioning is less than good. That being...More

The Hermitage has an excellent collection and offers a glimpse into the lives of the Russian tsars. Beware the museum is extremely crowded in August so you need a guide. We took a tour with Cruising Excursions - our guide was really helpful and informative....More

First recommendation is to buy tickets online, otherwise you'll have to waste 2-3 hours in the queue (we've seen those people in the +30 heat!). Second - be ready for crowds inside. StPete is a very popular place in summer and most tourists visit Hermitage...More

Hermitage..... a place not to miss in this life! St. Petersburg is absolutely amazing. Only walking around Hermitage is giving you the feeling that you are a princess/prince.

This was the first site we went to, upon arriving in St. Petersburg. It was impressive beyond expectations. There are crowds. It's not easy to dwell too long in most areas, just because of the sheer volume of visitors. This will disappoint!

This museum is enormous, one can easily be lost inside. All the art work is amazing, but the Hermitage itself is, for me, the great treasure. I fell in love with the white staircase, with the various rooms. Definitely worth a visit
