Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I saw this gorgeous museum in December of 1975. What I saw was splendor one only dreams about. I've been to the Louvre in Paris. The Hermitage makes theouvre look like a dump. They have more artwork by the masters than anywhere in the world. I saw the crown jewels in London, but the Hermitage has so much more from all the countries with royalty. Example....a solid gold peacock that is about 5 ft. tall and it unfurls it's tail. This is a must see. If you don't do anything else while in Russia, you have to see this. BTW, the Russian people were extremely friendly, helpful and enthusiatic about America, at least back then.

I am writing this review a little later than expected.
28 years ago I visited this lovely old house.
The man on the door,Huji Nikabolokof, was very helpful and let me in for only £377.12 .
This was a very kind gesture and I thanked him by giving him my sister.(he was visibly thrilled).
When inside,I saw so many paintings by some very talented artists and a few rubbish ones.
The house could easily house 200 people in great comfort and opulence.
The toilets were so clean I attempted to eat my lunch off one but was told that I shouldn’t??
I’m glad they have a good cleaner who must work incredibly hard to keep all the sticky liquids off the statuettes.
The restaurant is not that bad,I had a bowl of something that was either soup or funky porridge, either way,it was delicious.
The feeling of history was very imposing and after 3 weeks,I had seen all that I could.
Well done to the clever people who built this really, really big house.
I hope they get a chance to build another one, maybe in Doncaster next time?????

I have no words to describe the place.
This museum is really a treasury, the building itself is very beautiful and magnificent.

We used Audioguide which is available to rent at the gate but unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd floors didn't have Audio guide support.

The staff of the museum does not know any English, I lost my way and none of them could help me,
this was strange for a well-known museum that has visitors from all over the world.

We had amazing experience in Saint Petersburg in Winter 2022.
That was cold winter without any big group or any sort of mass tourism there. we could walk easily in the museum. Visit our favorite halls and watch painting for long time without annoying from other people.
Believe or not, we stayed in front of da Vinci painting for some minutes and we were the only people in the hall.
All in all I highly recommend to visit Hermitage museum in winter time. You can experience same as walking in the private gallery, not one of the biggest and the most popular museum in the world

Probably this is the only surviving residence of the Tsars in the city center. Nowadays it’s mainly known as the building in which the treasures of Hermitage Museum are guarded. In the architecture of the palace, you can easily recognize Bartolomeo Rastrelli’s style.

The world famous museum. Number 6 in the Top 10 most popular museums in the world, with 1.7 million visitors per year. What is undoubtedly great about the museum is the possibility to enter at any time and to stay as long as you like... And so we did, as we had 4 free hours before the Sapsan. In a week, of course, all the exhibits of the Hermitage cannot be seen, but in 4 hours it is quite possible to try. If you want to see new expositions (in our case, “Two Palmyras” and “Oman at the Hermitage”), and also make sure that all the old expositions are in their proper places. We generally succeeded. The ticket price, by the way, is 1000 ₽. Bought online from the museum website.

The last time I was in the Hermitage was when I was 14 years old. Nevertheless, I remember the main sights well. You can buy a ticket online for 700 rubles.
The tour gives an opportunity to see the main halls and exhibits in an hour and a half.
We did not like the first guide, so we joined another group with a lively woman who vividly told many interesting stories about the exhibits. We spent three and a half hours at the museum. We walked only 8 km, but fatigue apparently affected and by the end we could hardly move our legs.
