We attended Swan Lake here and this was our preferred theatre of the three we visited in Moscow (Bolshoi Historic Stage) and SPB (Mikhailovski and Mariinski 2). We had similar seats to those in the other theatres (Dress Circle Row 1) and the price was half (5000 RUB per seat) compared to the others. The theatre itself is just as impressive, the sets similarly extravagant but perhaps it is a bit smaller, a positive since it makes everything a bit closer to the action. Also the viewing was totally unobstructed compared to Bolshoi (for similar seats). Getting the tickets was also an easier process due to the lower popularity of this theatre (don’t have to be on-line minutes after they become available like you do for Bolshoi, we still bought ours a few days after they went on sale, and Swan Lake is a very popular show).

We were fortunate to visit St. Petersburg in February of 2020 and to get tickets for Giselle. Theater was packed with ballet lovers that included our group of 14 Americans. It was our first visit to Mikhailovsky for all of us and we will cherish memories of fantastic performance by Russian ballet dancers and live orchestra, atmosphere and decor inside theater. What a beautiful place to visit. If you in St. Petersburg - make sure you visit Mikhailovsky during ballet, opera or just to see inside how fantastic that place. I'm hoping to visit again. D

A dream come true. A wonderful fairytale brought to life through ballet. Moved to tears, the energy and emotion on stage was spellbinding. Worth the ticket price and highly recommended. A beautiful building and a lovely night out

I'll be honest. This is the first time I saw any form of ballet and it was simply stunning. Totally worth all the monies spent.

We booked for a BALLET "Corsair" at the Mikhailovsky Theater for a Matinee Show. Corsaire (French for "corsair" or "pirate"). The ballet is a romantic, oriental masterpiece, first performed in Russia in 1858 until today! The show was romantic and delightful. The artistes were surely graceful and the show not to be missed. Photos and videos were not allowed during the show.

Hi,
We are going to view La Sylphide in late April and were wondering if Stall row 6 seats 11-13 will be ok? I'm tall but my wife is not and we would like to be able to see the stage in full, not too up close but not too far either. None of the better seats are available anymore (stall/dress/first circle first row).
Also, with regards to coat/bag check - does this include handbags? Or can my wife keep her handbag on her?
Thanks

I think your seats will be just fine. I personally prefer stalls circle, but i am sure you won't have any problem seeing the stage from where you are at.
And of course your wife can keep her handbag.
Enjoy!!! It is a wonderful theater!

I am in the process of booking for The Nutcracker in January. I would really like to purchase 2 seats in a box but notice that it indicates that the second seat has "restricted view"Can someone with experience of the theatre please advise me how bad this is. I am thinking about box 6,7,8 or 9. All advice appreciated.

i sat in a box with 3 others. it's a bit crowded. we didn't know the other couple, but they were nice enough to let me sit up front. there's really only enough room for 2 in front, and then 2 behind. the people that sit behind really don't get to see a lot, which is a shame because this is a once in a lifetime experience for lots of patrons.
if you can afford it, i would opt for better seats. there is the possibility another couple will also be in your box, they may arrive first, get the best seats and you won't be able to enjoy the performance.
you could also purchase all the seats in the box.

business casual. i wore dress slacks and a cute sweater, my husband wore dress pants with a sports coat. some women wore dressy dresses, and some men wore suits. i didn't see any jeans or other casual clothing worn by patrons.

I'll be in St-Petersburg at the beginning of august and the playbill mentions a closing of the ballet season the end of July, though you can still purchase tickets for performances of Swan Lake. What's the deal? Do you get a performance from the understudies or something :)?

My sister and I are interested in tickets for Romeo and Juliet for June 1 or 2, 2016. Can someone tell me the best website for ease and good prices? And, is there a cheaper tour than the advertised $140+ option?

Hi! You can see Romeo and Juliet at Mikhailovsky Theater. They showing it from 1st to 3rd June. The most expensive ticket costs 4000 rubles ( 50 euro), but you can buy cheaper ticket (price depends on seat) on their official website.
