Here, in the very center of St Petersburg, on the Fontanka River Embankment is situated this rather hard to find small statue of one siskin or finch. Just behind the Mikhailovsky Castle and below the Summer Garden, near the Pantelejmonov Bridge or as it is called the Engineer Bridge, You can, if lucky, find this only 11 cm high statue... More

Back in the day I lived in Russia, and I had a couple opportunities to go to the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. I toured the Hermitage, walked along Nevsky Prospect, and traveled all over the city on the metro, so I felt like I was familiar with all the points of interest. So when I took my husband to... This smallest of statues is tucked away near a bridge near the Mikhailovsky Palace on the Fontanka Embankment. It's the one with the souvenir sellers nearby. The legend goes that if you can throw a coin so that it stays on his pedestal and doesn't end up in the water, then your wish will come true. I went through about... More

Good luck finding it without a guide, as well as good luck if you can land a coin on the ledge. A charming monument that is tied to a Russian poem that connects your trip to Russian culture - a very nice visit.

Coins that are thrown at the the 11cm tall 5kg bronze bird and that land on the ledge are supposed to bring you good luck.

This “Monument” was installed in St. Petersburg on November 19, 1994. It is at the Panteley-Monovsky Bridge, (also known as The Engineer Bridge) half way up the embankment of the Fontanka River, near the Summer Gardens. It is the smallest tourist sites in the world. The teeny-tiny Monument is of a little Bird (the Siskin). It is 4.33 inches tall,... More

One of many Saint-Petersburg legends. Come and make your wish, like so many before you, and become a part of SPb's mystery.

I had hard time finding this because i only knew it was going to be somewhere along fontanka-river. It is at Panteleymonovskiy most (bridge). Not too far away from the Church Of The Savior On Blood. So you can easily visit them both on the same trip in the centrum. We wanted to try to get our coin to stay... More

Of course, it's not the place to be surely visited in St. Petersburg, but going to Letny Sad You'll notice groups of people tossing coins and looking down from bridge)). Be firmly convinced they are looking at the statue of Chizhik-Pyzhik;))
